I was recently contacted by a recruiter about an open position ....was hoping to get a sense of the company culture, products, etc. Are folks happy after the merger? Also, what is the salary range with 8 years total experience,( 2 years hospital) Unfortunately there is not a PDL thread on cafepharma which is why I am posing the questions here. Thanks so much in advance.

It's fine if you're coming from big pharma. Although Protein Design Labs has changed the culture somewhat. Many quotas are unrealistic. Products are iffy, especially Retavase, and have had some pipeline disappointments. Like anywhere, half of the battle is a good manager. Not sure what they're offering salary-wise these days.

Thanks so much for your reply. Are your products well received in the hospital?

Looking in to this company, coming from big pharma making 100K in base for thier biologic, I hate the corporate culture, what is like here?

Culture is really cool though you're not going to make 100 base. Maybe mid to high 80s. So I guess you have to decide if cool culture is worth a grand a month. If you say yes, that would tell me that you're in trouble where you are and I don't want you on my team.

Doing quite well where I am but the management is running the place like primary care. Quality of life is very important to me and if I have to sacrafice a grand a month I will. I don't really have money issues to a point that losing a grand a month woud hurt at all.

Those who don't think a great culture is worth a grand a month are idiots. It would be one thing if you were only making 15k or something but you should also look at bonus potential and goals. This company has real goals that are attainable and good bonus. Most big pharma will essentially cap you between 20 and 30k with absurd numbers, adjustments and imaginary bonus potential for various goals that you can't hit anyway. They might say uncapped or bonus potential of 60-80 but not many people get there, and once they finish consolidating it will come down every year. Aside from that big pharma always has major issues with pod sells, micromanagement, and those certain people who win everything year after year. Sound familiar? If you don't appreciate not having that bullshit to deal with then I don't want YOU on my team.

Anyone taking 15 grand less in base to walk into an unknown situation is crazy.
