Does Solvay require that Cardio-Metabolic reps. work a set # of speaker programs in the evening per quarter/per month? Are evening events broken down into dinners with doctors (no speakers present) and speaker programs (with a requisite number of doctors in attendance)? Some of the big pharma. companies' requirements for dinner programs are getting way out of hand, with reps. expected to do 2-3 PER WEEK. I am looking for some family-work-life balance and I need to know what the company would expect of me. Thanks!!!!

We are not forced to do evening or speaker programs because Androgel sells itself. Just ask any family practitioner or internal medicine doctor. Androgel is the drug of the future. I even bathe my dog in it.

Anyone know the true answer to this question? How many speaker programs or evening programs are required per rep. per quarter for Cardio-Metabolic PCP division? Novartis makes each rep. do one program/dinner PER WEEK.

It depends on the manager. I would say dinner programs once per quarter are possible, but not weekly.

While its a good idea to do one-on-one dinners with physicians to help build your relationship and discuss therapeutic benefit with little interruption, it's not required. Besides, it's difficult to get physicians to commit to dinner.

How many Androgel speaker programs must be done per quarter and how many Aceon speaker programs per quarter? Do Solvay reps. have to do Tricor speaker programs, or do they just go to their Abbott partners' programs?

Our dinner programs run @ once per quarter per rep., and often less than that. Our mgt is more focused on physician lunch teleconferences, which is more cost-effective, and less a pain in the ass than evening programs. No, this outfit is NOT like Novartis/Big Pharma, which has programs 3 or 4 times a month. Now, that IS crazy and wasteful.

At Novartis, there are about 3 per WEEK in each territory. Every rep. has to do at least 1-2 per month, multiplied by the 7 reps. who have the same products (Diovan and Lotrel). You have to schedule your programs first in order to not compete with your very own counterparts in terms of what days you can schedule your programs. Since every person has their own program requirement, no one in your pod will bend over to help you recruit because they are too busy recruiting for their own dinner programs (and what doctor wants to go out to hear the same topic more than once per week)!!!! Truly a clusterfuck.
