They are a optical lens mfg. Ranked #3 or #2 in lens mfg depending on the area. Essilor/Varilux owns the market. Hoya owns a handful of labs throughout the country to drive their lens sales through the ECP's. Hoya product is fairly new on the market, but very good optics. They have a good shorth corridor lens that does very well for them. Good management team.
