I interviewed last week for a sales position in MS. Today I got a call from the manager and he said that GSK is on a hiring freeze. Are you really on a freeze or do you think he was just trying to blow me off without hurting my feelings. If you are on a hiring freeze, any idea for how long?

Depending on the area we really are on a hiring freeze. We are in the process of integrating the Reliant sales force which will not be complete until March 31st. If a DM has an opening they are required to interview recently displaced GSK reps and/or Reliant reps first. If there is no one sufficient for the job then they can hire outside. Not sure why the DM interviewed you first and then said we were on a hiring freeze but thought this might give you some insight.

Why would they interview recently displaced reps? Aren't they the ones that weren't "wanted" in the first place?

Fact is ELD candidates interview poor saps just for practice, even with no openings! They waste your time for their benefit. It is the GSK way!

There IS a hiring freeze... unless a territory needs to be filled, which makes things thaw quickly. If there is an open territory, then the freeze is un-frozen. If no openings, then they are not hiring. UHHHHH, kinda sounds like no freeze, but common sense. Open territory--- HIRE. NO openings, all territories filled --- FREAKIN' FREEZE!!!!!!!!!!

Sounds like their is no hiring freeze. The previous poster said they interview candidates even when their is no position open... is that true?

HR does but rarely does a DM. If you interview with a DM ask them which territory is open. Pretty simple.

Thank you for the reply! In all honesty now... I am currently in the interview process with PriCara and GSK. Of the two companies which has better long term potential (pipeline, annual layoffs, ect...).
Yes, before you answer, please pick one instead of showering me with negativity. I am very interested in getting into your industry and looking for some honest answers please!

"No one sufficient for the job" give me a break. What in you mind would be sufficient for the job? Get off your high horse.

Whats the chances of me gettin in if I just went on a ride-along ? DM told me same thing basically. Displaced reps- recently posted for the opening and he has no choice but to interview them first, before sending me to the home office.(HR rules?) Is this typical?
Thanks - JK
