No kidding. Cancel the national meeting. It's not like we have any new items anyhow. Ross and Nestle lead us on news right now. Store label is kicking our ass. It looks like it's gonna be a long time until we get back on top of our game. Plus our management is all heading for the exits. Those that haven't left are about to make a one way trip to Chicago. Bye MJN and bye Evansville.

Shit.... I would take a freaking coupon at the very least! We don't even have those anymore. What's next for the sales force? Bus passes?

Cannot wait until MJN is spun off, then we can shed all of the handcuffs. Could save a lot of cash by eliminating all of the extra man hours and people on NN and put it into sales premiums and up the budgets. Yeah, right, fat chance......

The Chicago thing is true. It came out from Golsby in an IPO Q&A. Only top execs will be in Chicago, nearly everyone in Evansville now will be there for the future.

It sounds to me like only the newly formed Mead Johnson board of directors will be located in Chicago. I would think that trying to get a new board of top level executives together quickly and require that they move to Evansville would be next to impossible.

06-06-2008, 06:57 AM
Catherine as Sales VP is hardly a top exec. Urbain is borderline. Chicago will be for CEO, CFO, etc.
The newly formed MJN Board of Directors will not be in Chicago. Boards are comprised of people who work for other companies. They'll be located wherever across the US. BMS will have 80% of the seats. They'll probably pick a person or two local to Chicago to show some good faith to the new Exec HQ city.

So really no one will be moving, the new board will meet in Chicago as a middle ground and one that is cost effective and easy to get to from other major cities. It is all coming together now. No one will be getting a one way ticket from Evansville. The new board, lets hope they are an ethical one, will have their meetings in Chi town. Got it.

It will be interesting to see who exactly the people/level of positions that will be in Chicago. It sounds like most will be new to the company. Funny to read different interpretations of the q and a.

Agreed. The MJN Admin staff will NOT be moving to Chicago. Chicago is for MJN Senior Execs including CEO, CFO, jobs like that.

Oh lets see; the EXECUTIVES are moving to Chicago. But not the people they need to be in closesst daily touch with. Name one company that moves their "Execs" somewhere but no other admin functions. Hye lets moe to Chicago and leave the company in Evansville......."Funny to read interpretations of the Q & A"............ because you haven't actually read any Q & A

Just because you are not bright enough to find and read the q and a doesn't mean the rest of us aren't. And most companies Boards are comprised of people who do not live in the area. Chicago is international and has easy access to an airport of the same. It is the same as the Executive offices on Park Avenue, not in Princeton, and certainly not in Evansville. The sky is not falling on this one, it is SBP. Funny to hear what people are making up that haven't read the q and a...

I guess maybe it depends on what you mean by the admin staff. If youre talking a bunch of admin assistants, who cares. If you mean the troops who do the day to day work, i can assure you that the vast majority of the current grunts in Evansville won't be moving.

I'm not sure had you really had access to a "Q & A" and read it that you are capable of comprehending it. The board will meet wherever probably New York but maybe Chicago. People can make their way there from wherever they live (duh)
The MJN Admin building will no longer be in Eville. I have been told in no uncertain terms that I am moving to Chicago. I am in marketing. Friends in other sales and support functions (Finance, Marketing, Sales,) anything other than Evansville direct operations will move or find work elsewhere.

Interesting that non-executive offices also would be moved to Chicago. Would think that relocation costs would be a huge hit against current fiscal environment. However, moving out of Eville to a larger city would be more attractive for external candidates. Makes sense that lower level R&D and operations would stay in Eville.
When (2009 or 2010?) is the move expected?

Ignore this poster. Its bogus information. Go back and read Golsby's email and youll see this is completely false. No lower level employees have been told theyre relocating to Chicago.

Abbott's in Chicago. I heard they're considering bidding on MJ. Tell me that's not true! Holy Crap - can you imagine? They would monopolize the entire industry. Is that even legal? If this is the case then I'm out of here.

CORRECT! Besides, who would announce an IPO, announce opening an office in Chicago, just because the parent company of a potential bidder is headquartered there. Get real. Why would you anybody even think that makes sense.

That is a real stretch. What do you think about New England area - where a number of the largest pharma companies are located in a small geographic area? I guess you think they are all going to merge?

Did anyone ever think that we might pick up (pick & choose) some of the Ross marketing guys since we will be in Chicago? They could have some good strategic information for us.

Hey d**khead read what I wrote again. I said that no company would locate a HQ in a city because another company headquartered in that same city might buy them.

True. While Ross is in Columbus and Abbott is in Chicago, they do quite a bit of shifting marking and operations people between the two (as well as their Animal Health and Diagnostics Divisions) so that these individuals get overall corporate experience. Something like BMS used to do with some our top talent in the past (Tulholski, Davidson, McCabe, Alsman, Wallace as examples). Someone who had worked for Ross in the past and is working for Abbott now would command a very high salary, incentives, perks, and benefits to move but it might be worth it.

You obviously have not been in this business very long because I am talking real world as things like this happen in the Pharma industry all of the time.
