The word on the street is that is JJ's region out of of St. Louis. IT all came from a female rep that made a ton of money by doing and sending in the PA forms for her docs. This got both of them placed on Leave because HR is tryiing to distance shire from this RD and rep. Gary and Harry did not want the word to get out so they told ever rep in JJ's region and the regions that are close to JJ's that if they talked to the rep or RD that they would be fired. While Gary and Harry were doing there little read a long deal to the nation HR was trying to keep the state of IL from coming after Shire. THe prloblem is that the whole nation has been doing this PA thing.

During the meeting launch meeting my RD and chad helland talked about hw to do this pa. This in fact has taken placy by mr. helland and my rd in everye poa meeting for the past year. I guess it goes back to doing what ever it takes to grow the vavanse market share.

Don't assume that we all did it. I have no helped in ANY way with PA's. Those office cows are paid to do that- fuck them. I bring them pens and food, that's all the cushion they get from me. I grow ms anyway.

I actually would never help an office write a PA, nor would I look in a patients file, but that is because I am just too lazy...

BUT I will say that my RD wanted me to do things that I know are not exactly compliant with privacy laws. He actually sends out things like helping with PA's and reps flagging patient files as success stories!!!

...and since that national conference call, it has been all quiet on the western front, like nothing ever happened.

I can imagine asking my RD about this. Instead of saying "man, I'm sorry about that guys. Lets make sure we follow the rules from here on out", it would sound more like this.

Me: So, I guess you were wrong about me looking into patients personal files.

RD: I never said to that. Weren't you on the conference call?

Me: Yeah you did... you told us to do exactly what the call told us not to do.

RD: No I didn't, you must not have been listening carefully.

There really should have been many more RD's canned over this one. I think it's so funny that Shire has for years thought they are above the law with regards to HIPPA! I wish Shire would have gotten absolutely spanked by the FDA or whoever regulates this....they've had it coming. This situation is a perfect reflection of this company's values in the market place as of late...when the pinch is one, they don't go to bat. They just rat out a couple of folks a look for "fall guys"...spineless pricks are who runs this company anymore! Watch your ass people....don't do as your told but do what's right! I think you'll see a lot more shady stuff like this exposed in the months to come! There are more and more disgruntled employees at Shire everyday...when their own people start turning on them it will really hit the fan!

You idiots deserve to get fined and get some jail time. If, by this point, you are not aware of the serious consequences of HIPPA violations you deserve to be made poster children for the industry. If your managers did indeed instruct you to violate HIPPA laws, drop the dime on them. Remember you'll get 3x the fine that Shire will have to pay. At $250,000 an occurance that'll sure take the sting out of being laid off.
