Harry, before you leave. When you look at a targeting sheet a lower score is better? Kinda like golf. Wow I bet that whole handling objections part of the process will take like 600 slides and 50+ hours - they can't let you go. You have not even begun to define our jobs for us! We will be like lost mice in a maze without your top down micro bullshit. SOMEONE PLEASE MAKE HIM STAY

All I can say for everyone is that when these 2 loosers leave it will be a great day for the company and you. These are 2 guys that never had any business in the positions they were in. Only there because another pathological liar, VV placed these idiots in these positions and I knew it was only a matter of time before they got what they deserved. They should also clean house on those inexperienced, incompetent RD's that are not capable of change, i.e. GAW in Louisiana and TS in Georgia, and on, and on.

Try hiring managers with experience that know and respect their employees then you will see representatives move market share. If they don't trust you they will not follow you.

Oh BTW, the Managed Care people should have been gone long ago as well.

Harry and Gary: You seem to put people in positions of responsibility based on their ability to "do what they are told." There are not many managers at Shire who can think on their own or lead on their own, including you; you must always be told what to do. This is why the infrastructure of the company is incredibily weak and Shire is dangerously close to failing. I thought the corporate headquarters was moved to Philly to improve the talent being hired, however, I don't see any evidence of this "higher-end" talent on any level.

If you really care about Shire, leave the company before you completely drive it into the ground. The company will not fall apart if you are not here.

They should all be fired, because what these marketing geniuses are coming up with on their own is rediculous and they should be fired for wasting so much of the companies money on SHIT that we all throw away the moment its delivered. HOW MANY SHIRE BAGS DOES ONE REP NEED!?!?!!?! I've been with the company 3 years and I know I have at least 9 bags/backpacks/suitcases in a closet that I've never once used. Insead of wasting all of that money, why not ask us what kinds of things we'd want instead? I guarentee NO ONE would say, "gee, I think a new shire bag would be great"! With the marketing material for our doctors, just ask us what we could use! I can't believe those Daytrana Mirrors made it through I'm sure quite a few people before it was approved! Use your heads. That shit doesn't make sense. The whole marketing department should be fired and some money needs to be alocated there for people who can think on their own and actually come up with creative INNOVATIVE ideas for things that would benefit us, the doctors, and the patients!!! AND WHERE THE HELL ARE ALL THE PENS??? WE'RE A PHARMACEUTICAL COMPANY FOR CRYING OUT LOUD! THATS WHAT WE HAVE, PENS!!! ITS EMBARRASSING!!!

BIG Pharma rep here... You idiots don't realize how good you have it with "give aways" We have none, zero, nada. There are also no plans to get anymore. We abide by Pharma guidelines and Shire doesn't. Enjoy the pens (you will get more). My personal opinion is that if you need a pen to sell then you are not much of a sales person.

Big Pharma rep you have missed the point we still have nothing! Because the marketing team is so far out of touch with the sales force that we literally throw away most of the stuff they send us because it is shit!

exactly. we don't need pens to sell. that isn't the point. the point is they are wasting literally MILLIONS of dollars on the items themselves and the shipping of those items to over 600 reps. I would rather us get nothing than what we do get!!!! because either way it doesn't go to the doctors offices, it goes in the trash!
And yes we do follow pharma guidelines. Which shouldn't start until January 1st, so in the mean time, we should still be able to get things from the marketing department that our doctors could actually use! We have less than 4 months left until this change takes place... if the marketing department was smart (HUGE STRETCH) we would get some killer marketing material these next 3 months to give the offices and stock them up. So far... it doesn't look to be the case. But now, that doesn't really suprise me.

News Flash, Shire isn't a member of Pharma and isn't required to follow it's guidelines. I wish we wouldn't since the idea that a pen is going to influence a dr.s prescribing habits is ridiculous and to be associated with that logic doesn't reflect very well on us. Nobody uses a pen to sell it's for brand awareness you douche. It's funny how you appear to be complaining about your lack of pens only to then criticize a reps who gives them out.

What do you consider "killer marketing material"? I agree a lot of the stuff we receive is crap but be careful what you wish for. There are a lot of reps that don't get anything to work with at all. I hate all of the fluff items we get but back in the day we used to really be the ADHD support company and have a lot of solid support pieces. Docs would actually call me to get more of these type of items and you could use them to try and paint the picture of why they should be making changes if appropriate. It seems since Shire has been bringing in outsiders that those types of items have decreased and we have tornados and paperclips instead.

I consider killer marketing material anything I could take into my doctors offices that isn't a complete joke. Your right, a lot of reps don't get anything to work with, but again, thats just my point. we don't get much to work with at all already! and as another post said, most people don't realize just how much money they are spending on those tornados and sandvertisers and the shipping of those items. It sucks that we don't have any material to actually use, but it sucks even more all the money that is going down the drain that could be used on helpful items or to increase the bonus payouts! anything!!! But you're exactly right. I have ZERO adult info about vyvanse to give the doctors to give their patients. We have had an adult indication since April!!! WHERE ARE OUR ADULT SUPPORT PIECES?!?!!? Blueprint for Success. Anyone remember those. Our doctors love them, requested them daily, and what do they do? take them away?!?!?

Shire isn't a pharma member, but has followed the first code and will follow the new one. And I agree -- it's time for marketing to come up with good educational materials that will help docs and patients. stop with all the silly stuff.

Thanks for the reply. I agree with everything you wrote. Just was curious if other rep's idea of good marketing material was more office supplies or the quality support pieces. Maybe the pharma guide lines will force them to put their focus back on being a top notch support company. Frankly not carrying pens and wipes around for offices is fine with me and will hopefully create space in my garage.

This is so true we used to have quality support material that Drs actually used and wanted to give to the patients. It did make us a resource to the office and most importantly allowed us time with the drs to do our job,sell. How much time did the Daytrana mirror get us? How many prescriptions do you think that generated? Oh I shouldn't be so harsh I know the other items moved market share you know like the vyvanse business card holders, tornados, stress tumblers, foot cubes, wall clocks, clip boards, office BTS kits. you would think the marketing department would have to be held accountable. Someone has to be looking at these items and doing some kind of calculation to figure out how many scripts these marketing pieces are generating to decide how well the marketing department is doing. Apparently this is not the case. I bet marketing is just sitting around getting high (on Shire's dollar as well) and thinking up the most rediculous things they could possibly come up with. Bottom line, they know it won't matter. They don't get paid any more or less for coming up with something good or bad. Their bonus is laughing their asses off as they imagine all the reps walking into doctors offices with this shit. At one time we might have been thought of as the "adhd support company". Now it seems the more medications we are covering, the less relevant "support" patient material we can give the offices. I don't think we can honestly have "adhd support company" on our logo anymore since it has been a LONG LONG LONG time since I have ever been able to offer that to my doctors.
