The truth be told, AZ may buy GSK. AZ has three compunds in R&D right now that could all be blockbusters, thus they may aquire you guys. That is three compounds, with real potential, more than what SKB and GW's combining R&D has in the pipeline. Times are going to be very tough for GSK for the next few years, a once great company that really sucks now!

AZ just completed an acquisition of some type. I doubt they have the ability to buy out GSK at the moment.

That is correct. Another problem with a potential AZ merger is that Steve Nissen would come out with a metanalysis shortly after the merger that would claim that Crestor is killing thousands of patients.

GSK, AZ, Pfizer, Merck, BMS name one company that is doing well. You can't limit it to just GSK and AZ. The whole industry is tanking even the production is moving out of the US. Every day we are operating more like generic companies and they don't need a sales force to sell their shit at pennies per pill. The FDA and class action attorneys have killed R&D in this country. Malpractice Attorneys are killing our Physicians strapped with insurance rates that are forcing them out of practice. Mal Practice attorney ads are replacing drug commercials and the Democrats are running one of the biggest offenders (John Edwards) as the poster boy for the greed that is killing health care in this country.

No stupid rumors! I knew about the Purchase of Reliant 6 months before it happened. I asked my DM a week before and he did not know. So wait a few months and we talk about RUMORS.

Sorry! I work in an o/s market and here they keep stressing that no one is going to be made redundant. Sanofi, Pfizer and Novartis reps have been laid off and they've made it clear they're not going to do the same to us. Mind you, I can't comment on the US market but we've had a bumper yr in Oz, so there is no reason for us to fear our jobs. Plus I was told by mgmt that AZ would never bother with redundancy packages anyway as turn-over is high enough to take care of downsizing.
