I don't get it. Why wouldn't Barr just drop the price of generic AXR to stop the market share erosion? At these prices it must be on a 95% margin so the mathematics aren't hard to work out even for barr.

Because we make if for them and have a deal. It is called collusion!!

Yes we make the AXR tablets for Barr for 6 months and can charge a fee for that and we earn a small royalty on sales. But Barr is hardly likely to let Vyvanse steal market share based on price. I know that Shire think that they can earn reasonable bucks from Barr during this 6 month period but personally I think that Barr are not going to collude to their own long-term detriment, are they?

Did you even read the article? The point is that Vyvanse WILL be priced lower than the generic XR. It had nothing to do with what Shire earns from a deal with Barr. The point is that managed care (private and public) as well as the end users will see a lower price tag when comparing Vyvanse to the generic. This isn't to say that the generic won't possibly have a lower copay than Vyvanse, but it still gives Shire an advantage for the initial 6 months in many other ways.
