I stand shoulder to shoulder with surgeons all day. In some cases, not all, the surgeon will not do the case unless I'm there. I manage over a $4 million territoy, am the market share leader (ankle biters like Applied and Covidien on my back everyday), call on every single specialty that does surgery) and I have to grown my business double-digit.

Yes, I have a company car, the best benefit package around and I report to a manager who makes sure I am working my plan. Yes, I work for the company with the most cash in the bank and that makes everybody else who understands basics economics green with envy (yes, we may buy you if you're good enough). Do I have some commodity items like clips and skin staplers, sure. Do I sell some devices that require clinical expertise, absolutely.

Am I pharma? You decide. All I know is that J&J is better positioned right now than most and Ethicon Endo-Surgery is their shining star. We'll cut J&J a check this year for $1 billion. When you get downsized and/or bought by J&J, you'll want nothing more than to work for EES. Did I drink the Kool Aid? No, I just know the real deal.

ha the last poster made me laugh like i have not laughed in a long time! no surgeons need help closing up. ethicon reps are only needed in the OR to do inventory of all that shit in the closet. hey its an easy gig with too much training that is a foot in the door for device. decent comp for medical sales around 125k. i dont want to hear that top reps make 200k and up, no JNJ company makes more than 150k. i cant wait until my company is bought by Ethicon Endo surgery so i can feel like a winner. thank you for the laugh bubba.

one last thing, surgeons are not going to put off a case if you are not there. if you say that they need you there then you must drive all over the place everyday for these surgeons who need you so bad considering how many specialties you call on. there is no way you service every account every day unless you have 1 hospital. general surgeons do a bunch of cases everyday and can live without you bud.

If you feel this way about Ethicon reps, then why are you wasting your time interacting with them on this forum? If you are so above them, why even bother giving them the time of day?

Sorry to burst your bubble but I've averaged $175K over the last 4 years. To say that no one makes more than $150K shows how little you know about the JNJ companies and the various comp. plans. Then again, based on your grammar/typing abilities, you don't sound like the sharpest person on this forum.

it is well documented that ethicon is the training ground for other device jobs. my company has 2 of them. if you make so much money why the turnover? again easy job, good money, pharma of device.

For someone who thinks so lowly of Ethicon/Ethicon Endo reps, you sure do spend a lot of time on our forum. I guess we should all be amazed by your words of wisdom, your excellent grammar/spelling abilities, and your overall insight about our companies.

I have to ask, what products are you selling that make you feel so superior to us?

Thanks sweetie for the enlightening conversation.

Of course, you never mentioned what you are selling that puts you in a superior position of device sales.

You are right about that. I used to work for ethicon endosurgery and it was the easiest device gig that I had. People were leaving like crazy because they weren't making money. It is as close to pharma as possible and the guy or woman who wrote that they had to be in every case for their skin staples made me laugh like hell...don't anasthesiologists and nurses use your staplers to make drapes between the patient. That is one thing that you can sat about EES products..so user friendly even a child can use them. Chicks love ethicon endo-surgery because they hardlyl ever have to go to cases after a while and guys with bal&s leave for better device companies and more money. Management at ethicon endo surgery also sucks.

Damn that's funny. Now you're stating that you worked for Ethicon? If you worked for Ethicon, then why are you even posting here because it sounds like you already know the answers to your questions?

*Sigh*, you just sound like another disgruntled, bitter, ex-employee who couldn't hack it here. That's cool.

Once again, if you are so much "better" than Ethicon employees, you wouldn't be wasting your time on this forum.

You just sound like a bitter little boy who had his toys taken away from him.

Disagree!!!
previously with ethicon and moved to pharma due to having a child so lets clear this up buddy:

pharma is a complete stress free environment.training was a complete breeze and short. i'm in offices giving lunches and having little to no face time with these guys. Yes, staff can be a pain most of the time but seriously, complain about something else Oh..i get a few signatures a day..pretty tough day lol To be quite honest, that basically sums it up.

ethicon was brutal training for around 3 months total then I managed around a 10million dollar territory. Every single day began around 4 or 5AM and I was either driving across the state, in the OR for a case, or in the OR for a inservice. I am never up before 6 these days!
People always say its the pharma of device. call it what you will. No, its not ortho sales but trust me it is just as competitive and people are looking to take your business every single day(or maternity leave)
You sit in the OR all day and have nurses, surgeons, and materials yell at you b/c of contracts, misfires, backorders, etc Then, stand face to face with your competitor in surgery and have surgeons put you on the spot to battle it out-just for a good laugh. You have to clinically sell your product while a surgeon is operating on someone.. COME THE HELL ON! HOW IS THAT ANYTHING LIKE PHARMA??

I would much rather be sitting in a office and spending time with the fam.
I'm quite positive you cannot put pharma and device into the same category. It's TOTALLY different on every single level!

So get over yourself big bad device rep

thanks mom! the reason it is the pharma of device is because it is all contract driven and loaded with females. too many times have i seen ethicon reps counting boxes doing inventory and NOT in the OR. good luck
