Well your first sentence doesn't make much sense. You may need to check you Lithium levels check. The entire posting smells of fear and weakness.
I am glad that you are pulling for the "small little engine that thought he could". Back in the day Bill gates used to lend a helping had to Steve Jobs at Apple because he felt sorry for them. Those days are over. It's America and free a world. The large corporate mentality is slowly dying.

Thought Troy was at Cochlear, but heard he was at Caldera. He is a bit of a dick, so I guess his movement makes sense.

Troy is a D**k-head and shady at best. The guy was recruiting for sales reps who had pre-existing relationships with UroGyns and Uros. The funny part was after he sold the company to me and after selling myself to him, the next "step" was to ask my docs for feedback regarding Caldera and if it would be a good move on my part. Also, I was to check with them regarding potential interest in Caldera products if hired. Troy said that he wanted to make sure I was well informed before considering the position.
He then sent a lovely spreadsheet that wanted information regarding the name of the docs, if they had interest in learning more product information, and how many procedures they use slings. Haha. This was "homework" to gain practice information in order to move on to the next phase of interviewing. The funny thing was how Troy communicated the research with my customers as a way to determine my interest in selling Caldera products, only to find out that the guy wanted practice/doctor information all in the name of "interviewing". What a jerk off.
I smelled a rat, so I taked with the customers, asked them about potential interest, then submitted the spreadsheet minus the volume data. Of course I got a lengthy email from Troy asking "what about volume, surgeries using slings, etc...?" I told him that I have the information and suggested that I could provide that information in the future, once hired. as expected, he stopped returning my phone calls and then after my persistance, he replied that a suitable candidate was found.
Did I mention that the position was 100% commission and that there was a 5,000 per month draw against commission for 3 months and only half of expenses were reimbursed? So, this D**k wanted to gather free information from candidates all in the name of a potential job offer, have the candidate work for him and ask akward questions regarding volume, have it in his possession, then pass it along to another person if not hired. Haha. F**k that guy and company for trusting this fool.

First off, it sounds like he passed on you and you have an axe to grind. If you didn't like the comp plan then walk away. Regarding "the next step", Troy was just doing what he was told. You'd have done the same. Did you really think he was the boss? Far from it. He was and I stress WAS a soldier just like the rest of us. Regardless, he's not here any more. He got blindsided just like all the managers before him from what I'm told. Watch and see if the process isn't exactly the same.

Outsider here! Really, I have a serious question for this poster: You would give YOUR information, real information, that could give tremendous data to an Company that didnt give you any assurance of employment? Really? Please enlighten me how one can keep leverage with an organization once you have given your customer data? Yeah, Yeah, I know "Well if you had nothing to hide why would you care?" or "IF you were a REAL Sales Person..blah blah blah.."
By the way, I am reseaching banking institutions: Which one do you use, what is your checking account information? I just want to make sure You are telling me the truth about your knowledge about this industry....Password too would help as well.....

Easy big fella. You missed my point. I take responsibility for that. I wasn't defending the process or the request for information by Caldera. To your point, you'd be out of your mind to share that kind of info with anyone, let alone Caldera. I was defending Troy doing what he needed to do to keep his job. In the end it didn't make a difference. He got used up and spit out like others have. They S-canned him like they have all the other managers prior, without fan-fare or prior warning. Word on the street is that these guys are now conducting interviews via skype, electing not to fly candidates in for final interviews at all. One should ask themselves, if a company isn't willing to invest in an airline ticket during the recruiting process, do you think they'll invest anything in you after you've joined them??? With the challenges these guys face (weak products, no salesforce and no leadership) it'll be interesting to see how much longer they can keep the lights stay on there. Sounds like a winner.

Yes I too replied to a medreps posting for this company and spoke with a Paul who after the first telephone interview proceeded to send me an excell spreadsheet and asked that I interview all OBGYN & Uro docs to get very specific information about their potential or past usage of Caldera products. I quickly smelled a rat!! They are using honest people who are looking for work to go out and gather business information for them in the guise of being part of their interview process. It was so obvious and I am amazed that anyone would fall for this. I am even more amazed at the deplorable ethics of this company to use candidates this way. I blew him off ASAP!

i took the advice in a thread here to speak to a few current and former employees to scope the job out a little more. it took some work to track a few down but boy am I glad i did.
more than one person said he thought the new 1099 policy and comp plan is designed so they can fire reps once they bag the new customers to save on the commission they would owe you for continuing sales (company philosophy is that they'll be able to retain the new customers because docs don't care about who the rep is). in other words they play it cool while you bring something to the table and then steal it as soon as its worth it. they’ve fired most of their old reps who weren’t under this plan and the guys I spoke to who are still working there are looking for a new job.
and yeah I know no one ever says good things about management, but the CEO at this place seems like a real scumbag. middle management is ok but dont understand the market.
