according to this morning company management conference call announcement, avanir has already identified 75 candidates who will be notified today. They also claimed to have been "reaching out to appropriate social service groups" to support the drug/indication. Since I volunteer at my local ALSA (having sold riluzole in the past and become very involved) in a high profile city who actually ran clinical trials, I know for a fact they know NOTHING ABOUT AVANIR/NUEDEXTA!!

I also have been involved in my local market. Yes initial excitement is there but the fact is it will come down to manage care access and price of the drug.

One of the reasons you don't know anything about Avanir is because they currently have 7 reps in the entire country calling on Neuro's, Psych's and PM&R Docs. They have been doing this for only 2 months now. Please be a little patient that no one has come around to meet you or get involved with your local ALS society. PBA affects far more patients than just ALS. Avanir is making their impact in a calculated and methodical way and will be able to reach more markets once we bring on the additional 75 reps. Just remember, no one has ever been able to effectively treat these patients. The "Buzz" around this breakthrough is tremendous and everyone with PBA in the MS,ALS,Stroke,Parkinsons,Alzheimers and many other communities will be very excited about this breakthrough as well.

Most of the Neuro's I have spoken with are not excited about this drug- it will be expensive and most are looking into compounding this product....

I will be starting as one of the 75 later this month. In response to the post that Neuros are not excited, well that is our job. To educate potential patients and find those doctors who are excited. Once we get some doctors excited and having success, we will grow the base. No drug sells itself...we are SALESpeople!

How do you know you will be starting later this month as one of the 75? Did you get something in mail and if so, when?

Touche. We are sales people and it is our job to prospect, educate, and sell the product to the provider. I too am one that will be starting later this month.

The starting 75 have completed the background check/drug screen and received and accepted written offers. I think we're pretty set on all or most of the 75 positions. Good luck to all those who haven't heard by now...

Not so fast....I received an e-mail today that the process is still on-going and I would hear something either way sometime between November 10-17. Maybe I was a second choice? Either way, that's what I got. I'm in Michigan, FYI....

I know I am nosy. But how much did they offer? I didn't get an offer so I am curious. When I started the process they told me they could match the 85,000 I was making but it was never discussed after that.

I suppose I am second choice too as I received the same e-mail tonight. Weird, huh? I'm in the Southeast

Offers were made. Heard that a rep in my area was recently extended an offer and accepted it.
If you received an offer congrats especially in this volatile economy.
I hope the launch goes incredibly well.
All the best to Avanir.

Avanir has selected a first and second choice for each territory, offer will be made to first, and if accepted done. If first choice declines they make offer to second. This gives a 5-7 day window to on board entire team and set training. If you get offer days after first round, you know you were actually the second choice and likely will be treated as such first 90 days as there was not a consensus to hire the second choice.
good luck

Hmmm. Yeah. Not sure I am thrilled about accepting a job where I know I was the "second choice". Then again, does it really make a difference?

In southeast, I declined ... they had said they could match my salary, but came in about $10,000 lower with promised bonus potential. No contracts in place and no reall MM plan were my concern as I have loaunched several drugs in my market. They vacation, 401k, etc were all less than what I currently have so I passed.

"Southeast" did you receive the e-mail referenced above before you were given an offer?
