Not long now, 6 months and few days and the new federal Sun Shine Laws go into effect. This will definitely speed things up for more reorganization within the company. Wow, its just amazing to watch this company and this industry implode. Not much we can do about it except bring out the resume again and turn the job description of being a pharma rep into something that can be sold to non-pharma employee.
It may not end lunches, but the cost of the lunch as well as other items that a dollar value can applied against will now be reported for public view mext to the doctors name. Some physicians may opt out of lunches as they will not want to be preceived as receiving gifts and having their name attached to it. I do know of doctors who currently speak and have commented that once the new law goes into effect, they will stop speaking.
I have heard of doctors making so much money from speaking engagements that they will have to move from the city they reside in once the Sunshine Act is implemented- No kidding! Just watch and see what doctors disappear off your radar next year.
It's so stupid. You spend 300 for lunch to feed the whole staff, the doc looks like he got 300$ instead of the 10$ of food he ate. Not fair to the pharma industry, seeing as lunches are the only decent time you get with them anymore.

A $300 lunch will be divided amongst the staff..so max a doc might be pegged for is $20..still though..most will probably overreact
