Clinical Science Managers are a major support position. They are the gurus who talk peer to peer with providers on testing. A lot of the tests that are out there are under-used and not very well understood ( ie VAP, GGT, Glycomark, etc). The CSM's job is to walk docs through the testing over the phone/skype and in person. They travel a ton to do lunches and dinner programs with reps in the field as well. They are extremely helpful!
As far as compensation... I have no idea. I'd assume they have some portion of sales growth tied to their compensation. The two that are here right now are amazing geniuses, and are able to tie all of the testing together very nicely. Hope that helps at least a little :)

It does thank you. What is the company like to work for? It DOES sound like a ton of travel.

I'm a PA in Orlando and I just met the Clinical Science Manager for arthrotec. I was impressed with his knowledge base and he helped me out on a few pt. cases were I ordered the VAP.
I asked him about the amount of travel as a CSM and he said averages only 2 days a week with a lot of work done from home (skype, etc.). Sounds like an Ideal clinical liason position. They are hiring 4-5 more CSMs this year. Company has a good reputation. Good luck!

How so? The manager I met with helped me decipher some complicated pt. cases. Made it easy & straightforward to learn. I was impressed with him but don't know much about the company.

Hello Buddy - How were the not professional in interview? I interviewed for a similar position and my gut reaction was to run! Took the job and HUGE mistake. Lousy and incompetent manager but interesting work. They were so unprofessional & it was like high school with all their gossip. Complete BS job - waste of time.

I guess the whole expansion was a farce. I do feel bad for our rep. - really nice & professional. Must be hard during the holiday season.
