Interesting. I never saw that coming. We have always been incredibly weak on trauma and spine. That probably kills any hope of other mergers/acquisitions for Biomet. It would have been nice if Medtronic picked us up or if we merged w/ S&N.

Ya mean...Biomet. This a good move, Biomet has a weak trauma line and the sales force has not been focused on trauma. Good for everyone.

JnJ trauma for 280M...good deal for them. Biomet over paid. In one year from now you will see why.

So J&J sells an underperforming Trauma line to Biomet so that they (J&J) can get a top of the line Synthes unit. Sounds like the brain trust at Biomet really out did themselves this time.

Reminds me of the Biomet-Kirschner acquistion years ago. Biomet paid alot of money for "market share". The net result was minimal. We will see what happens this time.

Agree...as is, the price may be high, but a company doesn't buy a business or product line to keep it "as is". If Biomet can execute effectively, this is a base to build upon. At this time the trauma expertise, key developing surgeons, trained - focused sales force, etc. does not exist at Biomet. This offers the opportunity to get this product line moving forward...otherwise Biomet should be the seller, not the buyer.

Depuy's trauma range is the biggest bag of shit in the market. Yet another in a long line of bad acquisitions by Biomet.
