Breaking in the industry from Biomedical background Phd

I've been trying to break into the pharma/CRO industry for a while now with no success. My background is primarily in bench research but I spent a considerable amount of time gaining basic clinical experience. I am looking for opportunities in clinical trials or medical affairs. The problem is that companies seem to bypass candidates lacking industry experience. How can I overcome this problem? I really don't mind starting from the bottom and working my way up.
