Terrible management , poor ethics and discrimination against women, older employees and African Americans- what a combination for a healthcare company! The staff is hearing more and more about these suits, it's really getting bad.

GSK's mission is to improve the quality of human life by enabling people to do more, feel better and live longer.

This has to be the biggest pharse in the world. All GSK cares about are the shareholders. Do you really think they care about human lfe? Just look at how they treat their own employees.

Excellent Post. Former employee here. Again, GSK is systematically getting rid of those who they don't want either via corrective action to age discrimination, unnecessary pressure from boss & hr, micromanaging etc.. and any other unethical tactic to meet the numbers. They have lost many good solid employees by using these tactics. If you are an average worker and are not politically connected with your group you don't have a shot.

Good Luck. Post-Merger downsizing is still ongoing.....

HR is totally corrupt, there's no denying that. they terminate wrongfully constantly for political reasons, because people file a complaint with the EEOC, money reasons, they don't want people reaching retirement, they don't want old people. they don't take action against corrupt managers. they always take their side.

Amen. It seems like people expect to be paid for not working or barely working. When they are terminated they will look for any excuse as to why it was not their fault. Get in your car in the morning and keep it pointed away from home until the end of the day and you'll be fine. If you happen to get a DM that you do not like, wait a year or two and a realignment will take care of your problem. If your new manager still thinks you are weak it may be time to look in the mirror.

I don't buy it.. (from previous post) - There are many good employees who have been let go for crap reasons. Counterparts not working, making hair and nail appts. right in front of you- but they know how to work their manager and the system. You inform your manager that these things are going on and they think you're a complainer. Things need to go back to the good ole days when you were responsible for your territory! Not a large team of reps with no accountability. I know many good reps who are sick and tired of pulling the weight for a bunch a slackers!

There's a phrase for what GSK does - is it something like "positive turnover?" Get rid of older, higher paid reps, replace them with younger reps who can vomit out a core message as well as anyone else, but get paid LESS for doing it! Go ahead, say it never happens, liar! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

to the african american female who resigned recently. i don't know if you are taking action against the company or not. if you are, & i did, be careful. we are forced to go through the eeoc which is rediculous. it's a road block. it's a gov bureaucracy, full of red tape. they make fema look good. they are not helpful & they will discourage you because they are overloaded with cases & to get rid of the backlog, they want you to settle through a mediation meeting, where you will be offered garbage. they will pressure you big time to take the garbage because you will never win. you don't have the proof or the smoking gun. they are very convincing. your lawyer will say the same thing because he wants to make a quick buck & not have to work. he just wants to write one letter & sit back & wait for the check. the eeoc convinced the company to pay my lawyer seperately so i wouldn't have to. the whole thing is a scam. they tell you that we're under a republican administration & republican appointed judges are throwing these cases out of court or if it does get to court & you win by a miracle, the judge cuts the judgement to nothing. so you loose anyway. they want you to sign the settlement agreement & never hear from you again. the company lawyers show up with their computers & print it out quick. if we all settle than nothing will ever change. this is a racist company & they will get away it forever & i can see why. the eeoc is helping the companies & the lawyers are in on it. the system is a scam. the eeoc, the lawyers & the company are all in on it.

From my understanding GSK has been sited for their discriminatory practices, but there is still soooo much that they get away with. You are right, the EEOC was not much help. However, I did WIN my case against them, because of the "smoking gun" evidence I had as well as many witnesses. It was a long, hard fight, but it was worth it. Unfortunately it will probably take a huge class action lawsuit to make GSK change their policies.

the companies biggest fear is class action suits because it attracts the press. they don't want to attract investigative reporters because it could lead down many roads & more lawsuits. that's why they get rid of people quickly before it gets around or snowballs. they don't want people getting together. websites like this might cause a class action suit. they can't stop or control the internet.

I resigned from GSK, because of the company's practices of discrimination of not only African Americans, but other ethnicities as well. For those of you who work for GSK or want to work for them, I encourage you to be relentless in fighting for your rights to be treated in a respectful and professional manner. If you suspect that you are being treated otherwise, make sure you are documenting your experience. I know that some would like to think that discrimination does not happen in this day and age, but it does. There are people like the individual that replied to my post that perpetuate hatred and intolerance in corporate america and it's that type of gross ignorance that erodes companies from the top down. I was in the top 5% of my sales force for three of the fours years that I was employed at GSK, but that really didn't seem to matter. I was still being treated unjustly. That is why I chose to leave.

I did not post on this site to debate with anyone about how I choose to describe myself, my history, my ancestors or anything of the like. That's business and my choice to make. So I am not going to even respond to that garbage. It is really sad that some people enjoy degrading others and people like that should be pitied.

Very well said, GSK has no morals or values. I'm not quite sure how top management can sleep at night. I will tell you, what goes around comes around. I have seen some very nasty managers end up with above average problems in their personal lifes, bad karma brings sad news.

[/ QUOTE ] All I know is that GSK is begging for qualified minorities, not that they care-but they have quotas to reach- if this black woman was so great then she would still be with the company- no doubt in my mind....top 5%- 3 of 4 years means nothing-she could have gotten a good territory or any other thing that happens with the "numbers" game. GSK is a shithole for older reps -but for minorities they bend over backwards to accomodate even mediocre reps. ==her story is bullshit, period. She had to be a slacker or had some severe racial grudges to blame on the company, as she probably has her whole life.

The reason you don't hear about all the settlements is that GSK throws some 'hush money' to the plaintiffs and in turn they must sign a 'gag order' that prevents them from ever talking about their horrific experience. I personally know about a dozen in a very small geograghic area.....I can only imagine how many other individuals have the same story....we'll never know, but I'm sure it's in the hundreds, sad but true.

i'm one of many. i was both minority & old who took a settlement & signed a gag order. i was a top top producer, not a slacker. i filed a complaint with the eeoc. the company waited so it wouldn't look like retaliation & fired me. they fired me just before i would have gotten my full pension. as a result it was cut in half. i should have never settled & gone after them. i guess it's too late now because of the settlement agreement. this company is rotten. performance & hard work means nothing. zero. politics is the name of the game. they want to get rid of minorities & old people. they do it all the time.

Boy, isn't that the truth! There are plenty of current reps who are at the malls, dropping their kids off at daycare at 9:30a.m., leaving the territory right after lunch, etc. Even managers, when they say they have to leave you at 1:00 for a meeting are doing personal business for sure. So for those clowns who are saying that the reps who were pushed out are incompetent, you need to realize that there are some specific patterns that GSK is using to oust reps, and you could be the highest performing person on the team and lose your job because of your age, race, or just because the management feels threatened by you.

Boy, isn't that the truth! There are plenty of current reps who are at the malls, dropping their kids off at daycare at 9:30a.m., leaving the territory right after lunch, etc. Even managers, when they say they have to leave you at 1:00 for a meeting are doing personal business for sure. So for those clowns who are saying that the reps who were pushed out are incompetent, you need to realize that there are some specific patterns that GSK is using to oust reps, and you could be the highest performing person on the team and lose your job because of your age, race, or just because the management feels threatened by you.absolutely, you are correct, i was a manager. they cheat like crazy, especially managers who have been around for a long time. they're burned-out like everybody else. this go nowhere job gets old fast. as a rep, how many boring details can you do. as a manager, how many boring details can you listen to, after they had to do 50,000 when they were reps. it's super, super boring and people have to get away or go crazy. i could'nt take it any more. you are also right, they are dumping older people as fast as they can. it's assembly line dumping. they don't have to have a reason to get rid of you but they make something stupid up anyway. managers and rvp's don't like competition and they get rid of them fast. if you're a super performer, you're a huge threat and you're not going to last very long, so don't waste your time and energy.

I have a friend who settled this past spring for a wrongful termination on the SK side. It took 3 yrs, but she got $$$. She was managed out d/t personality conflicts w/her DM. Same old bullshit story. It took about a year of harrassment, micromgt, etc until they could drop the hammer on a dumb combo report. But she got a lawyer (not EEOC) and sued. They dont want you to know about this knid of thing!

Please take a look at the class action law suit that is taking place with overtime pay. GSK has finally been called out and they are going to have to pay up. They wrongly and knowingly cheated employees out of pay.

Now, for all of you 40 and over (former or current employee) you need to call the lw officie advertised in the overtime class action litigation(KINGSLY & KINGSLY) and demonstrate where and when GSK has shown to discriminate based on age. (and no I'm not an attorney..but my spouse is) This type of legal action has merrit and it will ensure some sort of fairness to those of us who have given their lives to the company. FILE A CLASS ACTION LAW SUIT FOR AGE DISCRIMINATION!!!PLEASE!!!!!!YOU WILL HAVE MANY SUPPORTERS FROM WITHIN THE COMPANY AND FROM THE IDDUSTRY!!!!!!!!!!IF YOUR OVER 40, DO IT!!!!!!!!!

I am an African American female who recently resigned from GSK, because of the many unfair practices that this company participates in. It is only a matter of time before the law catches up to GSK.

Unfair practices? Like what? Expecting you to actually DO your job 5 days a week? Give me a break, sister!

I am tired of all the damn whining from all the losers here. The biggest reason you no longer have a job at GSK is that you couldn't cut it, that is the bottom line.
