Since the company seems to be getting it's costs in line and with a few new product launches, could we be getting ready to see a rally?

If sales remain flat this year, but we reduce costs, doesn't that mean more to the bottom line? So I have to ask, what have YOU been smoking. Maybe you should go back and take the first grade over and learn simple math. http://www.cafepharma.com/ubbthreads/images//graemlins/grin.gif We know this will happen, so my question is, will wallstreet see this as a positive.

Wall Street has not responded to us for quite some time. Things are grim at BMS and they know it. Wish I'd sold my stock when it was in the 60s - I sold most of it around 30, with I had dumped the rest.

We should see a spike right after they anounce we are being bought by pfizer

if pfizer buys us we will all be fired, and all the assests will be sold off. The senior leadership will of course be given advanced notice so they can cash out their stock options.

When pigs fly. Remember when this was in the mid-60s? Oh, making aching options...

That's not going to happen. Pfizer has it's on financial problems. They can't afford to buy anybody. Mr. Mckinnel has got them in quite a bind. Take a long, long look at their debt ratio. It ain't pretty. Wallstreet thinks less of them then they do of BMS. They bought the majoity of Pharmacia, and Park Davis with outstanding shares of stock. The only people pushing Pfizer are the big investment firms that have all their clients in it. They would love to suck as many people in so the price will go up and they can get THEIR clients out.

Mergers in big pharma may be over for a while. As of today, there really hasn't been a large pharma merger that has been labeled a successful one.

This is probably the first accurate post I've seen on this board in months. Big pharma is floundering, so mergers aren't the answer and haven't been for a couple of years.
Shit + shit = shit. Last one I remember is Sanofi-Aventis

The stock will go up when either a) the company is bought or merges or b) has a billion dollar block buster finally get approval - that doesn't seem to happen with BMS anymore so I would say the prior is more likely. Small market/niche products like what are now getting approved won't have the same impact on the stock unless a bunch of them are approved in a row.

I think the stock may go back to its high point within a month or two of Iraq becoming a functional and peaceful democracy, Catholics and Protestants in Northern Ireland reaching out to each other in warm and fuzzy good feelings, Israel and the arab states becoming good neighbors and George Bush and Hillary Clinton divorcing their current spouses and eloping. On the other hand, it may have to wait until OJ is successful in tracking down the real killer.
