Avinza is a good drug and would complement Actiq.
And for those who say Avinza is a "me too" drug, what about Actiq? Hasn't fentanyl been around a long time? The sucker is just a new delivery system, right? Same with Avinza, they just figured out a way to make morphine last 24 hours.

Ligand would be a strategic fit to our organization. Their oncology & pain franchises would fit well into our organization. Our European operation is already selling Ligands Targretin(R) product.
If a deal could be put together this merger would would be synergistic for both companies core compantencies.

just got laid off by ligand at the POA meeting last week, if the deal goes through, hope your company is ready to mend relationships with docs before the roof comes off. good luck to all.....

Don't worry about this. The only reps laid off were a handful of those calling on PC. None of the specialist relationships have been harmed so shouldn't be a big deal.

If you think that the "specialist's" have not harmed relationships you are not that smart. Everyone at Ligand has their resume out and the PC reps were calling on MDs that write a ton of SRO's.

PC reps were SUPPOSED to be calling on primary care docs ONLY. Not specialists. Hence, those specialist relationships should not be harmed because the layed-off primary care reps WERE NOT calling on them.
Are you just dense or something?

my understanding is that Ligand is seriously struggling and their Oncology and Pain products could very well be a good fit for Cephalon

I got something dense for you to suck on. My point is that the high writing PC MDs that the PC reps were calling on should be considered specialists, there is business there ass and if you don't go after that business then you are the one who is dense. Suck it. http://www.cafepharma.com/ubbthreads/images//graemlins/shocked.gif

Ligand is a disaster. Great marketing and a cash infusion cannot fix the mess overnight. Be careful of what you wish.

Ligand is on Ebay. The reserve has been met.

I think that Ligand is a crappy company and that is only due to upper management making a mess. However, the products are great and the fact that a huge financial guru named Daniel Loeb who purchased about 10 million stocks sees great potential in the future and knows that there is light at the end of the tunnel. Please purchase company and you will see the big difference in the pain market as well with oncology. Avinza has a very unique delivery and will go hand and hand with the new fentura drug. Without a doubt. Especially if your company is doing business internationally. Avinza has not even touched that market. Stocks are still affordable around $9.00 if anyone is interested in making money.

Unless the rep was a Oncology rep....there has not been a POA meeting. Avinza makes money and is a good medication. Cephalon can take any drug(ie. Gabitril) and make it into a blockbuster. It comes down to MARKETING and having good reps. Don't think all Ligand reps are not good, some make more money than Cephalon reps.
Ceph could take the weak onc products and actually sale it...why?? MARKETING and the Uppermang. know what they are doing. Add a good sales force and pay them money......that is a winning product regardless of how BAD of a product may seem.

kiss cephalon's butt a little more!
These ligand reps really want to be part of cephalon.
Message to ligand reps: Its not that good at cephalon. They talk a lot of great stuff but its the same ol $hit. I have been with cephalon for 1 year and its the same stuff as everywhere. Maybe a bit better bonus but not as much as they brag about.
