You have NO idea what you are talking about. I'm sure his reps are devastated. Chris was a great manager...realistic, knowledgeable, and a no bullshit approach to selling and he was funny as hell. He is a terrible loss. I for one will miss him.

Another one from the good ole' days. Been around, sold in the field, made a statement in SALES moved into mgt. When your treated like sh*t like the whole dermik mgt team is by BJ this is what happens. Sad. BJ will just bring in some SA "mgt program" candidate jerkoff to try and be a derm manager. Where is he headed? Wish him luck.

Where's JB in all this. Is he in charge of this company or is BJ. You would have to imagine someone is saying what the hell is BJ doing that all these people are leaving. Whats the total count now since Dec...18 gone!!!!!! NO one wants to work for this company anymore. Shame!!

Jennings directly runs the mgt teams. Aesthetic side is worse. There are no regionals over there so the mgrs deal w/him directly. Derm side he deals with the regionals who pass the sh*t onto the mgrs. JB has no interaction w/ the RM teams. That's BJ's job. The guy is a disgrace.

Chris was a "true Dermik" employee who really cared about this place and wanted everyone to enjoy working here! I am a long time Dermik employee and will truly miss him. This guy was the ultimate team player and would do anything to help out his team members. Jennings, what the hell are you doing letting great people like Siegel leave, don't you realize that this is not that way to manage a sales force! Pull your head out of your own ass and start taking care of the managers here because this will not end here if things do not change in a hurry. The managers here are what is keeping this puzzle together and the glue is starting to pull apart. Please, quit looking out for yourself and start taking care of the sales force, especially the good people here who truly want this place to suceed. Communicate with us, not about Integrity selling but about what really matters, new products & pay raises that get us up to where we belong. SA tenured reps & mgrs. make alot more that we do. Start walking the walk, all you have been doing talking! It's crunch time!!! Siegel, thanks for everything and you will truly be missed my brother!

BJ did not drive these DMs to leave, the fact that we are no longer small specialty company and we are instead a part of a "Business Unit" did. Don't give BJ so much credit. When you change the structure, purpose and culture of a company you are bound to lose people who were at the heart of the place. Dermik's core losses started years ago and it was not the people at the top that mattered most it was those in the middle and down (KS, RW, DP, some top reps) and now the changes are done and more people are gone (AP, RA, TF, CS, more top reps and everyone in Berwyn). Sometimes people choose to find a new place to grow and sometimes the decision is made for them.
That's life!
No one person is powerful enough to create this kind of loss, it is much bigger than one person. BJ is just a minor piece of a much larger transformation that has left Dermik as little more than a logo and some products that generate income for their owner. Life goes on, so go live it.

Another testimonial for CS--former home office person here. I worked with CS in several capacities over the years. Whether it was marketing or in the field, he had a fire and excitement about him. He was a true innovator; always a step ahead of the status quo. He brought the best out of his team. And he had a wicked, wicked sense of humor. Will miss you, Chris. You rocked. Go knock 'em dead in your next gig. You've many supporters still.

I'm sure Chris appreciates you putting words in his mouth. Fact is that Jennings and all his micromanaging bullshit have a lot to do with how the culture is changing at Dermik. Unfortunately his guy is so narrowminded and arrogant that he probably actually believes that the bad-mouthing that goes on about him is good, because he's being the "tough guy"...you know making the tough decisions...and people just have a problem with change. What he doesn't get is that he isn't being some "tough guy" just making appropriate and necessary changes. The thing he doesn't get is that people aren't upset because of change, they are pissed because he is making stupid and unnecessary changes for the sake of change...like he just wants to do things to show he's doing something.
There is nothing wrong with change and shaking up the boat if the changes are productive and good for the business. I have seen him come through with no such changes.
The fact is that people are leaving and unhappy, because as tenured people we have been waiting and waiting for changes that would actually turn this place around and make us a force to be dealt with again. Unfortunately we are not seeing this happen...and how long do you expect the experienced people to hold on to a sinking ship when the guys at the helm just keep poking holes in the ship.
That's BJ's role in this and anyone elses who backs him up. Unforunately the rest of us just have to go along...and that is frustrating...to watch as things continue on a downward path...eventually you jump in the water, even when you don't want to abandon ship and leave you collegues behind.
That's life...that self-preservation.

Hey poster... here is you big chance. Since you have all the answers why don't you list the five things that you would do right now to make Dermik the force that you describe, and don't list an easy one like getting rid of Jennings, that's a given. I can't wait to see this!

1. Make your mgt team and tenured reps want to stay. Stop with the non performance pressure on everyone. Internal blindness when forcasting is the problem not the salesforce. BZC is a great product being abused to keep up the pace it was before competitive products hit. There are no people out there who would remotely consider coming here to make Dermik the force it needs to be. The people were already and are still here. BJ's messing that up.
2. No internal support whatsoever. (Brand, mgd care, samples, Instock etc. etc.) Must get it going inside. Sitting in Jersey with his thumb up his a*% for the past 5 months, knowing that no one was going to relocate to Jersey. Hired no one or just may not have had anyone interested in coming here to be a part of the messy environment. Can't build a new house on a crumbling foundation my friend. His answer will be to bring in non derm people to run mkting and prod mgt. Most likely from Ketek or some other dysfunctional unit in SA.
3. Get out into KOL physician offices and sell your commitment to dermatology. The guy is non existent. If he can't do it, get the RD's to get out there. Docs do not want to here it from reps and local area mgrs. Physician confidence in Dermik is disappearing rapidly. Thought leaders are concerned and they have been around Dermik for years. Hearing and seeing what goes on at the field level would open his eyes a bit. He needs to get in touch.
4. If a pump for BZC comes out that will help. He had nothing to do with that. Get the mixed samples out to the field pronto.
5. He is such a small part of the big picture that it all comes down to numbers. '05 is in the books, 06 will come and go. Rothwell and his goones will look at the derm "business unit" after this year and see how it has performed over the past 2 years. He'll see what's going on and say we don't need 220 reps to generate 250-300 million in revenue do we? We do that with less peole in other units. Penlac generic in '07, nothing to fill in that gap. Pods go by way of the dinosaurs and you're back in the same boat as in the past.
Consider getting serious in aesthetics or watch it pass you by. Sculptra is a very tough sell and complex to administer. Too many other GOOD options for docs to use with others coming out in the near future. He knows nothing about this market and never will. Nor does he have the luxury of time on his side to get to know it and its major players. Medicis and Allergan have a good stronghold on that part of the business.
His only "strategic initiatives" should be acquisitions. At least he can present to Balzer and Rothwell what prods would fit well in Dermik's arsenal. There are to many issues to try and fix. There was no defense against Duac intrusion, or a Penlac sister product. I will say though, can't fault Jennings on that because he only came in last year. Those issues should have been dealt with in '04 going into '05.
A lot of GOOD people left both inside and in the field. Very hard to fill experienced shoes.
