ANYBODY HEAR ANY MORE INFO ON WHICH CONTRACTS WILL BE EFFECTED , THE NUMBER OF SALEFORCE REDUCTIONS.
WHEN THIS IS ALL COMING DOWN??/
I AM GETTING NO ADDITIONAL INFO FROM MANAGEMENT SINCE THE PRESS RELEASE AND THE E MAIL I GOT, NOR ANY SOLID INFO FROM THE CONVERSATION I HAD WITH MY DM
HOW LONG ARE THEY GOING TO KEEP US HANGING ON?? .
I WISH THEY WOULD TELL ME SO I CAN MOVE ON WITH MY LIFE AND PUT MY ENERGY IN SOMETHING POSITIVE.
ANYBODY KNOW SOMEONE ON THE INSIDE WITH MORE INFO???///

Relax man -- this could take awhile. When downsizing was hanging over MC5 and MC8 heads in 2004, it took months to get a definitive answer. Keep that in mind when I say I heard that we would know by the 24th of this month.
The positive thing to put your energy in right now is in job hunting. Put your accomplishments down on paper and build your self-promotional skills. After all, management is giving us no other choice.

Best thing to do is believe the worst! I don't mean that in a negative fashion, but maybe it will spur YOU to ACT now to find new employment opportunities and not wait for PDI to bail you out! PDI is a failing company. You may be a lucky one in the end whether it be on AZ or another contract, but I certainly would not count on it giving PDI's "stellar" performance over the past 6 years! Just take heed and start looking. It starts with you!

AZ let the "cat out of the bag" late last week, therefore PDI had to respond! Don't expect any word from AZ nor PDI in the short term regarding the downsizing. They will "play" this out 'til the very end to keep both stocks from dropping, to keep existing reps working and not to cause investor panic. It's a familiar tactic but not uncommon for "loser" companies like PDI & AZ. If either of them had any ounce of pride in what they do, this situation COULD have been handled in much better fashion. I'm surprised either company has any investors left! But then, again, there are morons out there!

What do you think they gave as Christmas gifts this past year? Worthless stocks to friends, relatives and their great aunt Bertha. If you think either company cares about one rep, well you deserve to be surprised in a few weeks. The writing is on the wall, it's not graffetti, it's your pink slip.

The cars were all cancelled as of Friday. ARI guy told me they let them know that morning. I've been on the phone with ARI about buying mine when the contract goes down. Already handled all the details, just have to wait til the company gives the official word that the fun is over.No one knows anything. Called HR to find out if we will get paid for vacation days when contract crashes. No answers here either. I've been here 8 years. Still shellshocked from Dec 2004. Supposed to have conference call with DM tomorrow (always get news on Friday so as not to cut into the productive CORE HOURS) for update on our reviews! what a joke.

Vacation will be prorated till the end of the contract(s). Still would love to know exactly which AZ contracts and when. Managers are back east next week for tablet PC upgrading training. I know mine will be asking questions. If PDI follows true to form, you will get about 1-2 weeks notice before the contract ends. They don't want people to stop working.
Of course with MC8 knowing they are just treading water, what is the incentive to keep working hard?
PDI isn't the only contract company losing a contract Ventive has lost one of theirs effective March 31. So there are going to be a lot of people out there looking. Don't wait, move now if you need to work.

Oh shit I am in my final step of an interview with Ventiv for a position with a new contract. I am toast with both PDI and Ventiv. I think I need to look outside the industry.
Anonymous

I think everyone needs to start looking outside the industry if they want a more stable "career". Pharma sales is going down the tubes every year. Let's face it, we are all starting to become more UPS delivery type people then sales people. In fact, these are not even sales jobs anymore, more like 30 second commercials and a signature. Time to think outside this boxed world.

I don't think CV side has anything to worry about, if your resp. or zomig rep. I would be job hunting hard. The GI side is getting peds indication for nexium so why would they need any help with resp. and the zomig market is small. They need crestor to take up the slack of 1.6 billion lost with tprl xl going generic. I can see the CV side losing people in small markets but not the whole team. Guess we have to wait intill friday to find out.

Really...well perhaps. But here is some 'food for thought", never has AZ seen such a rise in PR as they have with MC5..not even at launch of PR with the original teams. Why would they move MC9 and MC10 out of Respiratory? They wanted to drive market share....hello!!! Now granted, should AZ want to go back to where they were before with Respiratory...bring back the old teams! Better yet bring on mc1-mc4 that no nothing about Respiratory. Then lets see how we do selling the Respiratory brand to the physicians that are used to the other team. Lets get them really annoyed with AZ and drive the market share. You see my friend, this would make great sense for AZ from a business standpoint...would it not? Now my suggestion to you, is to go back to your business textbooks....did you say that you have an MBA?

MC8 is probably going to be cut completely. My guess is MC5 will be around until June or July and then cut. Hopefully the managers will get some correct information while they are in Delaware this week. I can't see PDI announcing to us when and where the cuts will be until 30-60 days out. They do this to make sure they keep you working hard as long as possible. How many of us have heard, work harder than you have ever worked to help preserve your job? Make an impact and you might not be cut?
It is a shame we can't be told exactly who and when and let the people get on with their lives, but that is the nature of the beast.
Don't wait for PDI or AZ, get your resumes posted and find another position. They won't and can't show us any loyalty, why should we worry about them.

Well, the MC5 DSMs are all together and the latest we were told by senior PDI, in the last few hours, is that we still don't know. The story as we heard it was that AZ's Snow said Tuesday that Zook and Brennan haven't decided on exactly what to do yet.
Anything else with more information that you have heard is nothing more than speculation. The jerkoffs elsewhere on this board who helpfully posted what their "DSM told me" last week were either making stuff up or misrepresenting their DSM's speculation as "official" fact. (One of the posts appeared again, practically verbatim, except this time it was written "I think" rather than "my DSM told me.") Nobody thinks the future is bright -- for us, for PDI, or for AZ -- but nobody knows anything for sure either.
Do not expect to hear an official answer by Friday.

(Both)...management knows, don't kid yourself. As the above poster said, "...decisions are not made overnight." And any downsizing or elimination is not made at a week's meeting, either. Speculation, but they are probably deciding how many will be downsized, and PDI is praying that the entire contract is not eliminated.
Most companies just say, "Business as usual," and then drop the bomb. As you can see, it's pretty close to the end of the month, and a "good" time for "the news."

It's a good bet that MC-5 and MC-8 will be gone. Not sure whether it's end of March but it could be since this has been in the works for a while now. Not sure about "Z" but it looks like AZ may drop all PDI contracts, but not simultaneously necessarily.

Seems like Feb. 28/March 1st would be the "logical" timeframe for news, especially if the contract is completely gone and requires a 60 day notice. Ending April 30th at the conclusion of the trimester would make sense...along with the financial analyst conference call...isn't that March 2nd? Of course, "logical" and what really happens aren't necessarily the same thing. We just all need to know so we can get on with our lives.

If there are any other contracts, they are small ones. Beware, if PDI does offer you another position and you do not accept it, you will loose your unemployment pay.

02-25-2006, 06:00 PM
PDI will not offer you any other position, they will make you interview for the position. Nobody is promise a position on any contract. If they can fill the opening with someone else for less money they will.

I'll try to make it simple. If there is a position, and you interview for it, and they offer you a position, if you decline the position, you're out. No more unemployment, no more offers to interview for any future positions.
