View Full Version : How does AZ lose 2 Rep of the Year winners

Understanding some people love it here, while others hate. I am shocked that the first 2 rep of the year winners have left AZ. How do we not retain those folks. The rumor is we are committed to retaining and developing talent, guess that's not that true. What is even funnier the third guy who won Rep of the Year is a self promoting asshole who we promote to HQ.

The 2 that left tried to get promoted but were told "they're not ready". After being rejected several times they finally listened to other opportunities and voila, they're gone. AZ continues to promote those that chap their lips kissing ass rather than promoting those that have actually earned a promotion. Riddle me this: did AZ get more attention when these folks won ROY or more embarrassment when they left? I must be missing something, but doesn't retain mean try to keep someone. The turnover here is atrocious and those I've talked with that left said NO effort was ever made to have them stay. What a shame, and again AZ blunders itself into a laughingstock.

That is just terrible!
Well, I guess it's somewhat comforting to know that the "not ready" line really can and does happen to almost everyone here who refuses to have everything human sucked out of them to become a perfect ass-kissing clone.

Gee, I wonder why some of the drugs like Crestor isn't doing too well. If you can't keep reps steadily selling these drugs and you have such turnover - well, Duh!
It goes to show you that AZ doesn't care about people.
It is as long as they have a body is all that counts.

AZ could care less about turnover. Reps are a dime-a-dozen in AZ's eyes. If everyone with 15 years or more service would leave/retire, HR would love it! I've got 12 years and I can tell you, "senior reps" are treated just like 1 year newbies. Very senior reps are awarded with "lump-sum" payouts in lieu of real salary raises!! The message is...don't stay too long because we don't value you!!!

It's just a real shame because I knew both of them, if you can win ROY, you are probably pretty good at what you do and these guys were. AZ really dropped the ball here.
Turnover is bad everywhere but it is really embarrasing to lose both of our Rep of the Year winners. I am truly disappointed in AZ

Six (6) posts by the same bitter individual. Alright already! I get the fact that you're pissed off and have a gripe against AZ. But, your diatribe is so less impactful when you spread it across multiple posts. Just put it in one long post and be done with it. Also, you may want to speak with a counselor about all that rage. Not trying to be snide; just trying to give you some advice.

I posted some of my thoughts so it is at least a few folks and I am not really reading any rage in the words, but to each their own

The last to leave was a outstanding PC rep, and was upset he wasnt getting the love as a specialty rep. Truth be known he was middle of the road in his own district. Nothing against anyone, the talent pool is much higher when you are in specialty. To much ego

You should not assume things. I made ONE of the previous six posts you are referring to and I only made that one and that one alone on this thread until now with the addition of this post.
By any chance, are you in management (and please note that I am asking and not assuming that is the case by any means)?

You all crack me up. You criticize people who are promoted but aren't ready or deserving and then extol others who leave who MAY be ready or may not be. Being a great rep means just that--not that you're automatically entitled to a promotion to any other position on demand.

I agree with you completely about a great rep just being a great rep.
But, why are managers programmed to say that "you must excel at your present job before you can be promoted" to great reps all the time who have the skill sets and backgrounds (ex: marketing, training, etc.) for a position that is a better if not a best fit for their skill sets and backgrounds?
I personally think some reps are probably best just staying reps and these same reps have even expressed their desire to remain reps to management which has sometimes then resulted in management getting pissed about the fact they "lack ambition and motivation."
And, reps that want to do something else and continually express the need to use their skill sets (ex: multiple languages that could easily be used in the marketing department for translation of literature) also get members of management pissed for having "too much ambition and motivation" and "being too smart for the rep's own good."
The "too smart for the rep's own good" is a direct quote from a DSM to a direct report at this company along with a "I hate the fact that you are young and ambitious" line.

Why don't you just FUCKING enjoy your job. It's not easy out there but if you want to give it a try don't let the door hit you in the ASS.

Hey potty mouth--many of us do in fact enjoy our jobs but sometimes DSMs even want to mess with that.
I think most would just love to do enjoy and do their jobs while not dealing with any unneeded nonsense that we face here so very often.

Where did they go and when did they leave. Which ones left I only knew Carter and Eric and believe Carter got passed up on a manger job even after he was specialty to a rep that kissed RSD's asses at previous meetings even behind their current managers back. That is ashame because he would have been an awesome manager to work for. Eric I knew wanted to advance up the ladder as far as he could and let everyone know that --every meeting got up and talked about his expereinces with microphone time after time, so I am sure he kissed enough but that finally someone promoted him up the line just to get rid of him.

when I read threads like this I feel bad great people left
As a DSM I can tell you I have gone to bat to try to get awsome people promoted and I continually get pushed down. I think AZ has such a high standard it's virtually impossible to get a mgr position here, unless of course you are hired in as a mgr

Joe went to Schering.

Joe is a dick for going to Schering. When Joe was at AZ, he was the biggest Schering basher. He went so far as to allude that Schering had "violated" him and that he never felt like a full man again. Of course, we all thought this was just Joe's way of hinting that he might be a little light in the penny loafers. But, hey, I got nothing against that type of activity, as long as he keeps it in the pup tent, ya know what I mean.

The answer to the original question is simple. If you look in the panhandle region of Fla. and look at the Managers or recent managers around that area I would think one would see a common theme. Ineptness, paranoia and sociopathology are all rewarded. Without those there in no hope. So if you can really sell, rather then just have made up stories about "back in the day" then you are required by the laws of nature and survival to leave before the incompitence of your DM is revealed and you are eaten alive.
It is simple really.

You have no idea about Joe. Your ridiculous remarks are just that. Additionally by making these remarks you have displayed the plan truth about yourself, and it is so obvious the "kind of person" you are I won't go into detail. You must live with yourself and I am sure it is a miserable lonely place.

Joe was in Texas, Carter was in Tennessee, Eric was in Louisiana/Texas, how does Florida come in to play? I am curious to see what kind of brilliant geography lesson is about to be posted!!!

Carter was just avergae in front of MD's. Nothing special. Good rep but hardly any differnet from the other zillions out there. Most of the "great reps" (I'm not including myself) could give a shit about the Rep of the Year contest and never had a thought of competing for the spot.

How can you badmouth Carter, he was President of the US for goodness sakes. And by the way idiots he was from Georgia!

To win Rep of the Year for primary care all you have to be able to do is hold the CVA so that you are not reading from it. There are about 27 in the entire industry that can handle it backwards. All the other cheerfucks have to look directly at it while the doc stares at their titties. We have 6 people in our district that can sell circles around the "best" that you got. Punkass bitches all.

AZ will have been bought out by the end of Jan. 2007! AZ right now can barely stand on its own two feet.

bottom line is being a rep for AZ or any PC rep in big pharma is a joke. Give me a team of hot 25 year old women and I will have the number one district every single year, no question! There is not a sales job and that is why the company could care less is 5-7 year reps leave. Hell if I was running the company I would do the same thing. Why pay someone a 65k+ base when I could hire someone for 45 and get the same results?

Message to the genius who posted #1279642: just curious, if it's so easy to win, why then did YOU not win the contest? Big words like hypertension, GERD or CHF trip you up? Next time, think before you reveal how stupid AND jealous you are.
Now, take some time, get Mom and Dad or some of your friends to help, and at least try and defend yourself. Bonus points will be available if you don't use profanity or make sexual or racial references.

Racially insensitive comments are never appropriate, I agree. Now that we have that out of the way I could not help but giggle like a little girl, which most of you pimary care pukes are anyway. A real rep doesn't need a contest where they pretend to play sales rep you cocktoad asswhiner.
