What is the word on Prolieve?
Seems to be grabbing market share left and right. The buzz from the docs is very positive: patient tolerability, catheter-free and therapeutic necrosis.
I have read some pretty impressive white papers on it that have just recently come out.
I work for a competitor and our management is running scared.

I had the Prolieve procedure a month ago and I am happy with the results. The only wrinkle was that I DID need a catheter. I was able to urinate before I left the Dr.'s office, but at 2:00 am couldn't urinate and had to go to an emergency room for catheterization. Now daytime urination is much better and night time urination is somewhat improved. The procedure itself was uncomfortable, but not extremely so. I recommend it.

I hope it works well for you sir, but their own PMA is only a 34% success rate, there are better technologies out there. The only selling point is cath free and you did not even get that benifit. Wish you the best.......

I had the Prolieve procedure in December 2007. My results were less than good. I am now on Flomax for the first time and still having more problems urinating than before the procedure. I was told there was an 80% possibility of improvement. I didn't know there was also a possibility of worse symptoms. If the improvement rate is truly 80% it's probably worth the risk. I, for one, doubt the numbers are accurate. Brad Mayeur

If you're looking for superior results in an office setting have a TUNA/Prostiva. If you're looking for a more surgical approach have a Green Light or TURP.

Yeah - if you want your urethra cooked to a crisp!
TherMatrx is the best in-office procedure by far. It actually works (unlike Prolieve) and won't cook you to death while you are under heavy sedation (Urologix).
Best bet though would be to have Green Light procedure done in the Operating Room. Make sure you ask the doctor "How many of these have you done before?" Keep asking docs until someone tells you "Over 200". You want to find the person who has done THE MOST.
Good luck!

I had a Thermatrix done 1.5 years ago and never got better or worse. I moved to Miami last year and my new doc gave me a Prosteva and I've never felt better. Sorry, don't know anything about Prolieve.
