does anyone know about this company? is it a good company to work for? recruiter said 35k base, 80k guarantee for nine months plus $700 car allowance no gas.

Are people selling these things? is it really possible to make 180k year?

    Yes,
It is a great company to work for. $700 covers everything car-related, your gas (if you do not drive a guzzler). Yes, you can make $180k (in the right territory/state).

Are the territories in the West generally good ones?

I am also considering a position with Empi. I am in the Northeast part of the country. Does anyone know how that area performs? Is the tens a tough sell?

Field management and corporate management are a joke! The company has a good TENS product, but VERY poor leadership and pathetic in-house customer service.

The west, specifically CA, is probably the worst reimbursement in the country. The Northeast, on the other hand, is pretty good. The South actually has the best reimbursement in the country. TENS are a very hard sell and reimbursement is declining significant for a TENS which will make them even harder to sell, because patient's will owe more money. This pisses the patient's off and the doctor's off. EMPI has a great TENS unit but it is a me too product. The doctor or the PT can get a TENS unit from just about anyone these days (MUCH COMPETITION). The company has been public, private, public and private again. I would bet they are going public in the near future. Per the National Sales Meeting last week (worst meeting ever), there is nothing new in the pipeline. The company is not innovative at all! Furthermore, the comp plan was changed AGAIN! It changes every year. Last year they paid out too much money to their reps in commission so they have lowered the pay out in the comp plan and made it harder to hit plan so they don't have to pay out so much. Many reps will make MUCH less money this year. It is, however, a very easy job. You will have to work your ass off though to make any kind of money. I would not work for this company if you have better offers. Also, don't consider it a medical device company. They are a wanna be device company that is quite frankly much closer to a pharmaceutical company. No real device company would ever consider selling TENS units to Physical therapists as a device job.

hey dumbass - if u can sell TENS u can sell anything and YES it's a great alternative to a dead end pharma job or a 'yeah I have a beeper all weekend' device gig...think before u type idiot

The company wants to only give a 36K base which is 1/2 of my current base and then the same of 36K in commission for the first year-why would I go there? They have the best products in the industry yet a lot of reimbursement issues, I made 164K last year-problem is they are owned by Blackstone Financial-thus to be sold in 5 years and no yearly raises...
I interviewed aand was a final cadidate-I am sure they took the other candidate b/c of dollars!
It is a great opportunity yet a lot of competition-go for it but you will be looking for a new job in 5 years-stay away from the medical companies who are owned by financial firms looking to build the company for resale-especially Ameritox.

If you want to work for EMPI then you need to work for RS Medical. They are by far the leaders in the ENS market and EMPI is scrambling to follow in RS's business plan.

You can't be serious! you're either a rep for RS or a former empi rep that got canned or left because you couldn't sell. RS can't sell either, they buy their clients. 'Fore too long RS will be bought and its "sales force" liquidated.

Spoke to the recruiter from this EMPI company today. Seems like a straight up guy. But do they really think they are going to attract anyone with any skill for a base of $36,000 a year? That is not only unrealistic and uncompetitive, its downright insulting. I have over 7 years of solid surgical device experience, and they are calling me for a $36K a year base position? At 100% the total comp is about $70K which is about my base now. How can a company survive with such a non competitive base? Do they just hire desperate right out of college kids?

Laughable at best. Check out the revenue of RS Medical and EMPI and see who is the leader.

Does anyone know of EMSI - Electrostim Medical Services? They called me for an interview - $30K base - the manager made six figs the first year as a rep. Are they competitive with EMPI and RS? I am in the Northeast. Thanks.

This is the worst company to work for ... The management have their heads so far up there ass its not funny. Dont even think about working for DJO or EMPI. Management is like a bunch of used car salesmen... they tell you the world and they do that cause its such a big turnover. They do have some good products but with this type of product many people have their hands out and you cant pay them cause thats not legal. So you really have to work hard to get 100k 24/7 job. not worth it. It will age you 10 years in 2 yrs. Im not bitter I just dont want anyone to suffer like I did or as many people are now. Doubt you will ever make 180k now or ever insurance approval isnt getting any better its getting worse.

Empi is okay. It's the industry that's dying. It's companies like Zynex Medical that are speeding the process up. It's tough everywhere but Empi is still the best in ths business.
