I have an interview with Atley this month, and I see on their website they are a 'Christian' company. They mention biblical principles and God as well. Can anyone who works there comment on this please? Are they interested in doing things the 'right way' or are they a bunch of right-wing Bible thumpers wishing George W was back in office? I'm concerned that I'd work hard, and get great results (like I have at my other pharma jobs) only to be let go after they meet my 'significant other' one day. And do sales reps have long tenures ? thanks for your info !

Man I wish the rep's out there that worked for the company had those beliefs. I work for a competitor and I have strong morals and codes that I live by but the Atley rep's that I run into are cut throat and would do anything for a buck. They had two rep's that had great strong morals but the others,,, not so much. Plus they have lost most of their products.

What location are you interviewing for?

with all do respect...i don't mean to keep repeating myself on here, but the comments are truly incorrect. We have a lot of salespeople that have been around for years. Don't get me wrong, working straight commission isn't for everyone...which means that we have had a lot of good people leave over the years too. However, if you are willing to work hard and do them with integrity, you don't have to worry. The reason we do have salespeople with alot of tenure is because of the people that work for us...one of a kind. That being said, for anyone interviewing...be yourself. If you are willing to work hard and work in a manner that is morally sound, then you sound like Atley material...just prove yourself in the interview! Good luck!

If you are not a "good ole boy" and it sounds like your not I would not waste your time. Sounds like with your "orientation" it might just be a "little bit" of a culture clash. I am not sure the tolerance level will be to your liking. IMHO

Here is the deal. This is just another marketing company with a branded generic. I thought these companies went the way of the dinasours. At some point the market will speak about models like this as the push back from docs, payors and consumers will relegate this place into insignificance. This place is a perfect example of why Marcia Angell wrote her book "The Truth about the Drug Companies".

The comp plan is 20% commission on all sales, mileage and benefits. This company started and is mainly located in the south and southeast so you decide whether the diversity level is going to meet your needs. During my interview process I didn't get a warm and fuzzy about fitting in if you are a cultural outsider and I think they want it that way.

well, I didn't get invited back for the second interview. I guess I wasn't Atley material, but I'm ok with that. I also heard that they don't tolerate facial hair, so there's another strike against me. this 'Christian' company is kinda starting to sound a little like "Jonestown"... DON'T DRINK THE KOOL-AID !

I'm curious. Did you receive an application after the first interview and have you send it back to them - then they got back to you? Or did they tell you after your initial interview that they were going another direction.

I had an interview and they asked me to fill out an application. I'm waiting to hear what the next step in the process might be.

I sent back the completed application, and waited over 2 weeks before I received a phone call setting up a face to face interview. It has been a long process I think. My phone interview was late Feb. and I haven't even gone to the face to face yet...

You know what is funny here you say that Atley HAD 2 great reps with strong morals BUT the others not so much. Uhm you act as if you have met every Atley rep out there. You haven't, so don't act as if you know who we are & what we each stand for. Maybe those reps in your territory weren't cut throat BUT just out worked you & stole your business the right way & you can't handle that!! Also if you are a competitor of our cough & cold products, then it would be safe to say you have lost most of your products too or at least have had to refomulate again for the 100 millionth time,or if not will very shortly lose them.

Just because we are a Christian based company doesn't mean we don't make mistakes or sometimes have to get a little aggressive to get the business. We are just a company who is not afraid to let it be known our beliefs and we actually do TRY to do things the right way. We are not a bunch of Holy rollers passing out little scripture cards!!!

STEAL THE BUSINESS FROM ME..... Well me being male I dont think I would sleep with a married PA, plus he is a male. Its funny you said get the business the hard way, because the hard way only pushed more business my way. Doc's do not want to hear bad things about a rep that they like.

I have met some cool atley reps so I was not speaking of the bunch, Simmer Down Cowboy.

The face to face seemed "cult-like" to me as well. Felt more like I was on trial! I'm not a newbie to this industry either. I'm sure that my not getting called back for a second face to face was definately for the better. I walked away thinking that was one of the strangest interviews I ever went to....

Will you tell me about this strange interview? I have one coming up and just wondering what I'm walking into....

You'll do fine; it's just that they REALLY emphasize good moral character over stellar sales experience. They want to really get to know who "you" are as a person and not so much your past sales rankings, etc... Be ready to really open up and discuss your top character strengths! Good luck!

looking back, maybe I should have said I voted for George W in 2000 and 2004, I probably would been offered a manager position. in all honesty, the 'voice of reason' from within Atley in previous posts sounds like management trying to cover some obvious warts in their hiring and promotion philosophies. So if you watch the 700 Club, think your preacher doesn't molest children, believe you can buy your way to Heaven despite your actions, and think people different than you are evil, please continue to think that you are working for a benevolent company... but I think that the reason for all the wars and hatred in the world is because of all the religious thought and need for conversion, rather than acceptance. I guess you can take your cough syrup and Oxy-Contin and stick it...

UHM OK, I sense some bittermess from someone who didn't get hired??? Seems to me you have issues you need to work out, and I can assure you I am no where near management and uhm we aren't a cult, yes we pray before each meeting but that is about as far as any God talk goes it is on with business. I just don't understand why in todays society someone who is not afraid to make it be known what their beliefs are and what they stand for when it comes to Christianity is hung out to dry as if we are a bunch of Holy Rollers who do no wrong but condemn all others, I can assure you there is no conversion going on, if you are a good person of good morals & ethics then you are an Atley person. Is that so wrong of a company wanting someone like that over sales experience? You can teach somewhere to sell but you can't instill good moals into a person who doesn't have any!! I can assure you I am a christian but I do have my faults and will be the first to admit them and I do not always walk a straight line. Your post was uncalled for since you have no idea what Atley is truly about and thankfully never will. And I am pretty sure you didn't get called back because the guys who do the interviewing know what they are looking for someone with a good strong moral work ethic who is a go getter and will get the job done. And I bet your true colors came through and they knew very quickly you were not such a person. Good luck you are gonna need it!!!!

Well, I had my face to face interview and it wasn't strange at all. Actually enjoyed myself and even though I didn't get a call back for the second interview I thought it was good experience for me. I might have been a little "too honest" but thats something I try to be....an honest person. I'm sure they will find who they are looking for in KY.

I would think that if you have worked at other pharma co's..they could not afford you and you would be bored.

We at ATLEY are all about doing things the right way! I don't understand why the word Christian worries some people. It is obvious that guilt is what makes you feel this way. Working for a large company for many years and then coming to ATLEY was a breath of fresh air. No we don't drink at meetings because we are there for business and business only. We have at Atley, salespeople with a driving desire to put others before ourselves. Service and attitude goes a long way. In our interview process we want people with Character and Integrity and the ability to build long lasting relationships with physicians.
