I have over 6 years of pharm experience and had a DUI 2 years ago. No other offenses. I am applying for a temp position on the East Coast. What should I expect. Great rankings and awards. But 1 big mistake...

Sorry, but the poster above is correct. A DUI is equal to a death sentence in the pharm industry. I don't even think you'd be brought into the interview process, let alone receive an offer. It's just one of those concrete disqualifiers in the industry. Might as well attempt to apply, you have nothing to lose, but I doubt you'll hear good news. With "6 years" in the industry I'm surprised you asked the question.

I hate to say it, but it doesn't look good. A DUI will show up on your record. The only good news after 5 years you should be ok. It's still on your record but MOST companies only do a background on driving for the last 5 years. If I was you, I would try to get a in house job for a pharma. In the long run your resume will look better with sales and in house exp. I don't know of any pharma company who knows your at risk (DUI) and is going to put you behind the wheel. Sorry. Like I said, shoot for an in house spot. Good Luck.

In any pharma co's eyes you are uninsurable, irregardless co. car or car allowance. So go ahead, go thru the interview process and when your background check with driving record comes back you will be toast. Thanks for wasting everyones time.

Your a fucking loser! I did not say it was my "golden moment", I know it wasnt right. Innovex is a fucked up company and the whole industry knows that you idiots are not "real reps". I just wanted to make some easy money. I have other opportunities, I just wanted to see the culture of the people here. As I thought and knew, you are jerkoffs that cant get a real biopharm job with a major company. I have an interview with Amgen next week. You'll be doing a lame contract job, while I will be making more money than you will ever realize. hahahah!

Let me set you straight little man. Firstly- if you have so many opportunities lined up, why are you looking for a temp gig with a contract, fucked up company? Secondly, go ahead and interview at Amgen- it certainly doesn't hurt to spend some time F2F with a hiring manager- but with any pharma company your offer will be contingent upon you passing a background check which includes an MVR check. You didn't get the job? Awww, go figure. Maybe it was your poor judgement and immaturity. Maybe you would be going on year #7 with your last pharma company had you not decided to fuck up and get a DUI. And finally, you are probabbly correct- you have a lot of opportunities on your plate- unfortunately none will be realized in the pharam industry.

Were you convicted, or was your sentence defered or put on "probation before justice". Every state is different. If the sentence was defered there is no "official" conviction on the books. Still dicy though.

    Good luck

In response to thread starter/poster #7, please allow me to retort. "the whole industry knows that you idiots are not "real reps". I just wanted to make some easy money. I have other opportunities, I just wanted to see the culture of the people here." What opportunities would they be? Sounds like your ass is just about done with unemployment. You are fucking toast in this industry cool guy. Next time try calling a cab with your over-paid salary. The "not real reps" pretty much kick the shit out of 90% of the "real reps" asses when it comes to numbers (keeping in mind you "real reps" get the prime contacts to call on first, while we work with the leftovers. And STILL manage to outperform you) Next time workforce cuts come, be thankful you still have a job you truly don't deserve. Oh wait, you don't have a job do you? CHEERS FUCKER, I'LL DRINK TO THAT!!!

What if your DUI is 10 years old? Mine was in college. I would think after 10 years they would not find it on a background check.

I believe it's a 5 year search in pharma, but not positive.
