I have been researching Matria Healthcare for an interview and it looks like they have merged with another company to become Alere. Does anyone have any good insight about this new company?

Alere is Matria rebranded but with deeper products, a more defined management structure and the promise of actual product growth. Depending on where the position is would depend on how good the job would actually be. Alere has some great products that are potentials but if you are looking for something new every quarter you will be disappointed. Maybe something new this year, a couple next year and maybe one the year after that. It looks promising but we've all heard that before. Read any of the old posts about Matria to get a feel for what you would be doing day in and day out. The core services are a tough sell in many markets and easier in others. Like all companies it is flawed but there are some great managers in the joint. Mark, John, Rich are all quality guys who treat you like an adult and leave you alone as long as you are getting your numbers and job done. Any more specifics just ask.

As a patient- I recently had the infusion pump-and HATED it! I have knots in my legs, which are very painful still. I felt just as bad with the pump as I did just taking pills. No brainer for me was to stop the pump-get rid of the additional leg pain, and just puke up the pills-since I was still puking with the pump. I obviously have a lot of supplies left-and no one wanted them returned. That doesnt make any sense to me either. Seems like a GIANT waste of healthcare dollars. I haven't received a bill yet, which is funny that no one was able to tell me what the cost would be either. I will be interested to see! Also, got daily phone calls from nurses-that were just checking boxes-they didnt really care how I was doing-just wanted to keep me on that stupid pump as long as they could. I trust my doctor dearly-and do believe they were trying to make a good choice for me-but a quick IV at an urgent care or their office, and another script for Zofran would've done the trick and saved everyone a lot of time and money! I will be making sure they know that. This company seems like a giant waste. So, good luck to anyone looking to work for a company that takes advantage of sick pregnant women!

Britt was fired at Alere, just like at Novo Nordisk. She is very bad news.

Re: Alere, NGAL an emerging biomarker

today the registrationprocess and marketing of NGAL in Latin America was initiated, but unfortunately not by Alere, although Alere has spent millions of dollars in marketing this new emerging biomarker that will revolutionize the treatment of AKI (Acute Kidney Injury).
Alere is promoting NGAL testing on their Triage POC system.

Why is this important to Alere you might ask ? Well - NGAL was the core product-line of Biosite - a company that Alere invested 1,6 billion dollars in.. please see Roy Zwanzigers remarks : http://medicoinvestor.com/presentations/
    (slide 2)

AKI is an injury that kills more than 4 million people every year (in the western hemisphere alone) costing billions of dollars in prolonged hospitalisation.
Alere have tried to obtain a license from danish micro-cap company Bioporto (biopor at nasdaqomx.dk) who holds a patent defining the threshold values defining when AKI is imminent. Alere is using the good cop - bad cop tactics - hitherto unsuccesfully
a NGAL test - is a potential blockbuster - equivalent to the hearts troponin. Read more about this important invention - and the struggle between Alere and Bioporto at http://medicoinvestor.com/ - and learn why this is extraordinarily important- not only to Alere - but first and foremost to the 13 million patients annually affected by AKI..

Company has a systemic issue with management...recently got terrible marks from employees on management performance...in the Home Monitoring division there have been issues with managers being investigated for inappropriate, intimidating behavior toward sales reps and HR basically on CYA mode by firing people for other "reasons" when it is evident that the mangers in questions are engaging in management by intimidation. Many excellent representatives have left and it would not be far fetched to look at poor management for these departures. HR has ll but admitted there are significant problems by saying "managers have been improving on their deficiencies"... Not believable when these managers are not facing any consequences other than "additional training" after engaging in outrageous behavior on multiple occasions. HR department is weak with people that are controlled by department VPs that are themselves in CYA mode. Total conflict of interest...this can only lead to disaster when someone takes serious legal action. As a public company, stockholders should be aware that there is significant potential for litigation and liability by management and HR not fully dealing with these issues and being to cozy with employees that are being investigated and their department heads.

While the VP's at AHM might be different, I don't think they treat the sales people any differently.....
