The question though is how many tests are being ordered everyday. Is the business growing enough to slow the burn rate significantly?

Apparently there is a consensus with the other poster's list of negatives about this company.

If this notion were disclosed to a potential investor (that the need is not clearly defined) I believe said investor would walk away from the deal. If this is a current employee who is writing this, this illustrates a major problem, as it is a clear indication that the company really doesn't currently know what the clinical utility of their test is.

Who doesn't? The question as the last poster puts it is, what do you do with the information?

Again, very risky - this is called the "create our own market" paradigm. This rarely succeeds.

Aureon is the meanest company I have ever heard of. The culture is extremely disrespectful towards employees, and ethnics are beyond comprehension - and this comes directly from certain execs and their favorite pets. I am not and have never been an employee of this company –swear to God!- but my cousin, whom I am very close with, knows what I am talking about firsthand. Aureon is worth making a good comedy of absurd. You should have heard the stories, guys. And stay away!!!!!!!!!!

What is going on with this company? Just did a Google search - no noteworthy press releases, no announcements of major cancer centers or urologists offering the test to prostate cancer patients. How is sales? What is life like as a sales person at this company? How is the corporate culture?

I am not going to give away any inside information, but if you are interviewing here for ANY position ask the following questions:

    What is the burn rate?
What round of financing are they on?
How many tests do they need to sell just to break even, per month?
How many tests are they currently selling per month?
When is their projected break even date, that is, the date when they are not losing any money?
What sorts of assumptions have they made that might prohibit this from happening?
How much more capital do they have left?
What percentage of samples received at Aureon are rejected?
What is the clinical utility of Prostate Px+?
What sorts of treatment decisions would Px+ assist?
If a medium risk patient was re-classified as a high risk patient, what impact would that have on treatment? Would all urologists take the same course of action, given the above scenario? If not, what is the value of the test?
Is the clinical utility worth thousands of dollars more than other means of patient risk assessment?
How is the test reimbursed (which insurance carriers cover it?)
How much is the test reimbursed?

These questions get around the B.S. You are looking for answers that are quantitative and which leave no room for spin, and most of all you are looking for reaction time, and body language - i.e., does the interviewer look confident in their answers? Good luck!

This jerk bashing Aureon sounds a lot like the jerk who got fired by Aureon "I hear this person was fired for repeated lack of performance. Easy to bash once you have been let go" and now works at Definiens. Hmmm who could that be...Man up!

    C......,

Your argument is a true representation of the Company's "executive" management and leadership. Perhaps you can elaborate on your STELLAR performance to waste $750,000 on THE company-wide project; more than $16,000,000 deficit by the end of this year, amount of tests you have completed since July 2008, etc..... Looking forward to a real conversation!

    P.S. Sorry, I don't work for them!

Hey " A NOTE about this Anonymous highly negative, posting about Aureon - I hear this person was fired for repeated lack of performance. Easy to bash once you have been let go".

How would know the details of private company if you never worked there? Why do you continue to bash the executive management you reported to? What is your axe to grind?

I am an MD Urologist in Lawrence, Kansas and I came across this forum after Googling Aureon to research if this test might be of value to my practice.

I must say that I am very concerned at the tone of these posts. It appears that members of the management team are disparaging former employees on this messageboard and vice versa, which is an indicator to me that this company suffers systemic management issues.

One of the posts poses some very legitimate questions about the health and sustainability of this company. Another post refers to the clinical utility of this test, and poses some thought provoking questions.

Aureon seems to be working towards improving the standard of care for prostate cancer, and that is admirable. However, I am hesitant to recommend their test to my patients based on the negative content of this messageboard, questions of company sustainability, and the lack of available objective content, references and additional information besides what is found on their website, or produced marketing videos. I will however be following this company in the next few years to see if the original prognoses that are made are reflective of what actually transpires in patients.

I am posting here because I thought the management team at Aureon might want to know how their company might be perceived.

I am very interested in a sales opportunity with Aureon. What are the managers like? What is the company culture like? How many reps nationwide? What is the male to female ratio? What is the typical reps background? Is this job like a pharma position?

Ha! Stay away from this company unless you are in desperate need of a paycheck or want to commit career suicide. The managers are completely useless and tend to play favorites, are greedy, no personality and are lacking in a backbone. Company culture is hilarious. Not only are the people stressed the hell out for trying to leverage relationships in selling the Px+, the medical community is smart and sees NO clinical utility in a $3,000 test and the patient will end up paying a significant percentage. The corporate office, managment and the sales force burn through tons of investor money with no positive return and the water cooler conversation is how long Aureon will stay in business before being sold or shut down. Plus, it shouldn't matter about the male/female ratio. The typical rep background is greed. All the reps are/were promised that golden calf from the land of milk and honey only to realize that the goals are unrealistic, 2-4 people are really carrying the entire company and once the results come back to a doc's office, they realize the test sucked and they are going ahed with the radical anyway (there's a recession, ya know). Now, all reps are getting into more debt, making less money, cannot achieve overzealous goals and have the threat of job loss or company loss. Apply if you want.

    Wow. This sounds stressful.

Are the test actually not covered by insurance?

I was told this was a position selling into the OR. Is that true?

Are the docs paid for the professional component for administering the test?

Is there any selling in the OR?

hahaha... no selling in the OR. you are selling to urologists and uro/oncologists. docs don't and cannot make money from the test or its administration, therefore, the patient is the one who pays.
