...Aureon will stay in business before being sold or shut down.....
They have recently re-initiated conversations with a potential buyer (V......) - there are not many options left

    Good luck!

I wonder if you wait use the same premise before you prescribe any drug to your patients? I mean get real, have you checked out the abbott page or any of the other drug manufacturers? I have to scratch my head to think that a physcian would actually ascribe any weight to the rumors, innuendo's half-truths, etc. on any of these pages! This is after all ENTERTAINMENT! Get real doc. (and sometime some real useful information, it's just like fox news)

The problem with what you wrote is that you are comparing apples to oranges.

When a doctor prescribes a drug to a patient, that drug has undergone prospective clinical trials, with FDA approval.

The Aureon test has no prospective studies.

At the same time, there is an awful lot of negative energy on these boards, which is symptomatic of a management problem. I see that someone either working at Aureon, or who worked at Aureon poses some interesting, thought provoking questions, while the Aureon response seems to be ad hominem attacks, rather than actually addressing the issues that were posed. Do the math on that one.

Yes, when there's a lack of confidence the attacks begin. Negative energy on the boards and in the company. They are going through a series of layoffs now anyway.

How can that be? Their website has at least 8 openings.

Looks like they just hired a new CFO - take notice of the bio (it was just edited to remove the part about how he "positioned his last company for acquisition.")

    Current bio:

Mr. Van Nostrand joined Aureon Laboratories in January 2010. Prior to joining Aureon, he served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at AGI Dermatics, Inc. Prior to his tenure at AGI Dermatics, Mr. Van Nostrand spent 21 years at OSI Pharmaceuticals, Inc., where he served as Senior Vice President, and Chief Compliance Officer, among other positions. Mr. Van Nostrand remains an active board member for Metabolix, Inc., Achillion Pharmaceuticals, Inc. and is affiliated with numerous organizations including the Association of Biofinance Officers, the New York Biotechnology Association, the Cold Spring Harbor DNA Learning Center Corporate Advisory Board and the Foundation Board of Farmingdale University. Mr. Van Nostrand is a certified public accountant and holds a B.S. in Accounting from Long Island University. He has also completed Advanced Management Studies at The Wharton School.

    Old bio:

Mr. Van Nostrand brings to Aureon an extensive background in the financial and strategic management of healthcare companies. Most recently, he served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at AGI Dermatics, Inc., where he helped oversee the company's successful acquisition by a Fortune 500 cosmetics company. Prior to his tenure at AGI Dermatics, Mr. Van Nostrand spent 21 years at OSI Pharmaceuticals, Inc., where he served as Senior Vice President, Chief Compliance Officer and Chief Financial Officer, among other positions. Mr. Van Nostrand remains an active board member for Metabolix, Inc., Achillion Pharmaceuticals, Inc. and is affiliated with numerous organizations including the Association of Biofinance Officers and the New York Biotechnology Association. Mr. Van Nostrand will assume responsibility for all financial aspects of the company's activities.

I wonder why they revised that?

Latest jobs report as of 2/4/10 says 480,000 new people on unemployment. I would hate to be one of those folks, in this economy! One might be tempted to waste time on these forums and start bashing their previous company.

I heard from a source in the IHC industry(immunohistochemistry) that Aueron reorganized management and is doing quite well. They plan to have a big exhibit at this year's AUA in San Francisco.

They constantly fire old people and hire new ones. As soon as a new boss comes, he fires everybody who was not loyal in the past, or does not show enough loyalty right away.
Some of the positions they announce were open for years. Lots of people are gone within a year of being hired.

Someone let me know ASAP how this company is doing. Is Prostate PX something the urology community is interested in? What has been the reception? Are patients willing to pay for it? If anyone has been successful, what have you done to position PX? I'm serious about this. I have been told this is an exceptional opportunity for the right person and am looking at possibly leaving a good job to take this.

Very rude managment. I made inquires to Urologist, none of them use the product.

I hear Aureon was fired by their investors for lack of performance. They have now closed their doors as of October 4th. Sad.
