Is torniers reverse shoulder the best on the market? How does Biomet's reverse compare?

I would rank the Zimmer reverse #1. Probably Biomet's #2. The Exactech or the DePuy Extend 3. The Tornier Revese is only ahead of Encore. How's that bonegraft behind the baseplate working for you Tornier? lol

Zimmer? With that morse taper glenosphere? yeah, that's a great idea...

I believe it's the number one Reverse on the market. Taper can be tricky but beats a hole in the center of the articulation.

Zimmers trabecular metal technology is good but doesnt lend itself to making the shoulder system any better. Its a great idea to a nonexistent problem.

Exactech has a really good reverse shoulder but the system as a whole is likely why its market growth, around 30-40%, has been so good.

You cant go wrong with Biomet either.

Nonexisting problem? You can't be serious, glenoid fixation is a major issue in both Reverse and totals. I would agree that it's not as big of an issue on the humeral side though.

Humeral side is what I was referring to. As for the glenoid, "if" there is enough bone present a glenoid component bone cage full of auto/allograft will lend to better bone fixation than trabelcular metals supposed osteconductive properties.

All the companies, mine included, seem to think a good technology is applicable in every situation. I wish it was.

I really do not understand how you can ignore Encore, seeing how their reverse is mechanically superior to all of the others listed here. I almost want to laugh here..

    Okay, I'll bite.

Why is Encores reverse mechanically superior to all others listed?

    Please, enlighten me.

Encore is completely irrelevent. It improves external fixation by overlaterizing, but at the cost of catastrophic failure in the glenoid.

WOW Tornier is getting beat up on here. Tornier is way better than zimmer, depuy and biomet. More options for primary and revision cases.

are you joking? Look at their new TSA. Its a direct copy of the Global Advantage (Spencer and Holloway, who designed it, were Global users!), their APG is pear shaped, other than that it is such a blatant rip off, its ridiculous. Their Reverse looks identical to the old Delta 3, so much so, it's almost impossible to tell the difference on xray.

Too funny. Look at Torniers current product offering. Its right out of DePuy's product portfolio 4 yrs ago.

So the Trabecular Metal Reverse is the number one selling reverse on the market correct?

bump this...does anyone know? Is it Zimmer or DePuy?....or are they about the same.

It's hard to say for sure, depends on which data you're looking at. Zimmer was later to market and has gained a lot and I believe is number 1 in Reverse while DePuy is # 1 in overall shoulders, at least in the US.

    Wow,

Two main problems you still have with all of the Zimmer's, ToRN YAY!, Biomet, Depuy, and Exactech.

Scapular Notching is #1 ( All have notching ...execpt.....DJO)
Revision Cases #2 (Cannot revise the glenoid without jeopardizing the implant)

You must work for DJO Surgical.

OK...thanks. Now of Zimmer's portfolio would you say the TM reverse, anatomical, or BF reverse is number one? Thanks!

If a reverse fails (infection/loosening, etc) what is customary treatment?
    Just curious.
