Anyone know anything about Hu-Friedy, and why they are without reps in the Philly, Northern NJ, and CT area?

not sure what is going on with Friedy. Philly rep was there for a long time. Have had a ton of turnover on the inside in sales and marketing. You can find plenty of ex-Friedy reps working for different co.s.

Great products , but watch out.

Two reasons to stay away from this company:
    1. Dentists aren't going to pay a premium price for instruments that are made in China.
    2. Their reps are commission only with a 5k draw per month. At the end of 2009 most of the reps owed the company 3-12k and Hu-Friedy demanded that they pay up immediately.

Hu-Friedy used to be a great company to work for in dental. Not anymore. Also, they have an open offer from Danaher for a buyout. Why have they changed from a corporation to an LLC? Hint Hint...

Instruments are forged in Pakistan and assembled in the US.

not sure where everyone is getting their facts from but I worked for the company for over 8+ years....instruments are NOT made in China and forgings NOT from Pakistan. Go visit the factory in Chicago on Rockwell street and see for yourself.

They assemble in Chicago. They forge in China in their own factory. If you are being told otherwise they are ltying to you. The quality of the product is no longer there. Their director of education and institutional sales left due to the sub par quality of the product.

What do you know about this Danaher offer? I have noticed a lot of open jobs at Hu-Friedy in all departments. I wonder if it is turnover or just growing?

You are correct! They sold their CNC machines last year and now manufacture their components in their Shanghai factory and then assemble the products in Chicago. There have been many complaints by customers in recent years due to the poor quality of the products they sell to the market.

Not sure why the owners haven't figured out that their vision team is mean to employees. No respect up there.

it's not just the vision team, some who are genuinely good people. It's their middle management, the old-timers who want to continue to rule no matter what. They are driving everyone out.

Things are clearly changing under new sales leadership. Many new territories. New comp plan. Expense reimbursement fixed. Under-performers out. Recruiting high talent. Maybe the best job in the dental business right now. Kudos to the guy who is cleaning this up.

from what I know they have a rep in CT and has been there for the past 2 years. She also used to cover NY but now they hired another rep to handle it. So i would think that is considered growth.

I agree, this has to be a recruitment ad attempting to put a "smile" on a "sad" continously changing sititution within field sales.
PS: "SMILE" the changes are not over yet!

Hu-Friedy is doing all the right things. Adding new territories and continuing to recruit quality sales professionals. The compensation plan is better than most in this industry.
Anyone blowing smoke up your a## about them being anything but the best dental company to work for has probably been fired by Hu-Friedy for sitting at home watching Bonanza reruns all day! (I'm sure Hoss is in big trouble today, eh sucker?).

If you think that is a good comp plan then you must have been working the drive thru at McDonald's before. They pay at the 50th percentile in dental meaning that 50% of the reps in the industry are paid more and 50% are paid less. They also track every move that you make via Runzheimer and GPS tracking on your cell phone. And all to sell cheap crap that is made in China. Sounds like a dream job...sign me up!!

Adding new territories?? Tell me how shrinking a territory, and your earning potential via commission, is "doing the right things". You people at Hu-F##ckme are clueless.

Anyone sitting at home watching Bonanza reruns must be 75 years old. What kind of people work at this company? Sounds like an old school company that is behind the curve in business.

Just saw that Hu-Friedy is now selling hand cream. What's next...toilet paper?? Why don't they stick to what they were good at making which were dental instruments. Now that they have outsourced most of the production to China their products suck.
Are they trying to expand their product line so far that they compete with the dealers and go direct? They have, hands down, the most inept, worthless management team in the dental industry. Maybe toilet paper would be a good line extension.
