Driving Background Check - How far back does the company check????

they will see it all, they generally take 5 yrs for dui but will see all and mult dui's in consideration, they don't give a shit on previous employment so doctor your brag book. get in and out of contract sales within 18 months. If you have dui in last 4-5 years have another drink and get your teaching certificate. i have lived the dream.

 

I had a d.u.i. 7.5 years ago, and I am not proud of it. It was a stupid mistake, and I never drink and drive now. Do you think Quintiles would hire me. I'm interviewing for a position in Michigan, and I am embarrassed to talk about it as it probably is still on my driving record.

I am still upset about this so please do not judge me. It was one bad mistake. Any serious replies will be appreciated. I never even have one drink and then drive now. Never.

This may sound strange but the real issue is they can't insure you. Most insurance companies have a 5 year limit. You might get a copy of your driver history and see is/how it is reported because states report those different; you might also order a county criminal check for that county and see how they report it. You can do all that at youandyourdata.com; the fact is many (many) people have dui/dwis so it's not the stigma it once was and one from that long ago should not be an issue. Once you know how it's being reported, tell them about it; you may be surprised at the lack of a reaction. Good luck.

 

It is 5 years from what I've heard.

More and more people are getting them, UNFORTUNATELY, as the States keep lowering the limits. It's now .8. My boyfriend got one, and he seriously was not drunk, but he registered at .8. He had 3 beers--now doesn't drink even one beer. The limits are low and it's a huge money making proposition for the states. He regrets he was so stupid.

It's 5 years. I already asked HR. I , unfortunately, had one a little over 5 years--no other violations. I am not proud of it. I learned a lesson, and NO I'm NOT a drunk, and NO, I was NOT a drunk. We all could have gotten caught. The limits keep getting lowered. I never even have one drink now and drive. If I want a beer or cocktail, it's at home.

Most people who have gotten D.U.I.'s are NOT alcoholics!

 

Here's the lowdown in Arkansas: i just called the Arkansas Dept of Motor Vehicles, they said employers can only go back 3 years. Anything beyond that requires a subpoena! Hope this helps as it answers my question too!

 

Above poster is correct. Quintiles goes back three years.

 

The questions are asked by Quintiles when you apply. If you don't mean the timeline qualification, you will not be called by a recruiter.

I am surprised the state of Arkansas even has a DMV. Those inbred toothless hillbillies don't seem near smart enough to be driving.

 

Quintiles does not want you to have more than one moving violation in 2 years and no more than 2 moving violations in 3 years. You will not get the job if you don't meet those qualifications.

 

They do a criminal check thru- your state. So if it was a mis. not fel- you are ok the only thing that shows up on a state report are traffic and fel- now if you have a dui- that is another story- why don't you run a criminal backround check on yourself see what comes up. Also, some states won't give that info out look it up online and then do a check on yourself.

 

You know what? People make freakin mistakes in life and companies have no right to penalize you for something that you did seven years ago.

I know a guy that got a DWI recently, his job requires him to drive a car and sell. The company still brought him onboard because everything else (his skills etc) outweighed that.

I don't know what the laws are in pa but currently I have been given an offer as an outside sales rep. the company does not supply a car but they probably do a MV check. I have never had a DUI, in fact, I havn't even had a ticket for eight years. But eight years ago I drove on a suspended liscense and got like six tickets for driving suspended. Now, if the company would exclude me for something that I did eight years ago then they are looking for somebody perfect. But uh...the truth is?...nobody is ever perfect.

These companies really take an invasive measure against our privacy and I hate it. Hopefully the company that I want to work for recognizes that we are all human but they see that I am a great fit for the job. and when they hire me they will get a salesperson that produces big results.

I have had four speeding tickets in the last two years, terrible yes I know! When I first got hired on with Lilly I only had three, but once I got the last one I was placed under probation with the state of NC for getting two tix in less than a year. Long story short, I was laid off and now looking for work with other pharma companies. When they do my background check will they immediately discredit me because of my driving record or can I still be hired and just drive my own personal car? There are no DUI's on my record.
