To the medical device sales force,
As we approach the end of the year, the management of KCHC wants to thank you for your loyalty, hard work, and perserverence. We know there have been many reps in both DH and Respiratory that have chosen to leave. Those of you that have chosen to stay and work with us to rebuild and move this company forward deserve our warmest thanks. We realize that we should be rewarding you for the job you have been asked to do this past year. From old products, to backorders, product failures and new competition, you have all kept your eye on the ball and continued to grow your business.Thank You. We have the best reps in the industry.
We also realized that instead of the positive reinforcement you deserve, we spent the year attacking you, with threats of firing, putting you on plan and threatening your jobs. So going forward into 2012, we make this commitment to you:
We will be lowering your quota so we can ALL go on Club ONE. After all, if you make money, then we make money and the company makes money.
Nobody wil be put on plan of fired. After all, we have the best reps in the medical device industry, if you weren't, you would not be here. We commit to work together with all of you as a team, not as the enemy. We will ask for your input in product design, marketing and rollout. We will give you more flexibility in the field as far as pricing goes, so you can close deals sooner.
So lets move forward and have a successful year. Lets work together as a team and build this company up to where it belongs. Happy New Year.

I'm still trying to decide if this is a joke or if this is serious. If this is serious, Kudos to you!
If it's a joke, then you should probably leave like some of the other folks.
Also, if this is for real...the salesforces needs to take some responsibility as well. If we are all in this together then we should not be blaming anyone. Sales people are paid to sell. Some just prefer to complain about everything else that is wrong. Perhaps it's a combination of product failures, pricing, backorders etc.... but what about you as a salesperson? Your job is to overcome those obstacles and use your superior selling skills to overcome the obstacles. No, you can't fix everything...but no...you can't blame everyone else for everything either. I also think that for a medical device gig the base salary is pretty darn good. OK, bonus is lower but at the end of the day think about it. (These are just approximates)
The Boston Scientific rep gets a base pay of around $50k and bonus at around $70k (at plan.) If the Boston rep doesn't sell he is only getting $50K and will probably have his ass booted out the door.
Here at KC you might make $60K, $70K, $80K or $90K+ in base salary. You get that money no matter what. I also think that KC is a little more lenient with fireing people than our competitors.
ALthough things are not perfect here, it certainly beats working for some of our competitors. I think I'll be sticking around for a while. It's not so bad here.

Give me a break! Lowering quotas, no one on PIP and everyone making money? If you believe this bullshit why not ask for a Mercedes for a company car. 2012 will bring no changes; no marketing department, revolving door in the RM ranks, reps bailing out, no new products and trust me, the quotas will be high. So put on your rose colored glass, sit back and have another glass of the KC Kool Aid. I have faith that Joanne and her flying monkeys have only your best interest in mind.

Boy, you sound like a real go-getter. Happy with the base salary and minimal bonus!? Why are you in sales? It's attitudes like this that are killing the medical device business at K-C. We shouldn't be lenient about firing your sorry ass. Go get a marketing job you dope.

You're an idiot! Obviously you don't get the point and I'm not even going to try and explain myself. I think others get the point. You're probably one of those late 40's or 50 something year olds that like to talk about the "good old" Ballard days. Paleeeeeze!

Perhaps if you worked a little harder you could overcome the obstacles listed above. I don';t only make my base salary asshole. I was throwing out a worse case scenario and showing how it still is better than other places.

Please just go find another job and go away. It's people like you that KC doesn't need.

You only wished that you had worked for Ballard. But being the little turd that you are, I would imagine you had an outstanding two year career in pharma before coming to the Land of Oz. Maybe in your next life you can be a real sales professional instead of a whiny, sniviling little creatin that backs up to the pay window each month.

No, only one year. And yes it was an outstanding year at that. Then a device company and had four more outstanding years. I'm not looking to get into a pissing match. You assume that I am lazy. I am just pointing out that things could be worse somewhere else. My point is that you will never get another device job with the base salary that you have now. If you have a shitty year like most have had (and that doesn't mean you are a bad rep) you are still bringing in that high base pay. If you have a shitty year in another company, then you will be taking home much less money. Let's not try and make this personal by you telling me that I'm lazy and that I only count on my base pay. You make many assumptions. Lighten up.

I would really like to know who wrote this. At first I thought it was a joke. I don't think so anymore. Seems like some promises have been kept.

    1. Quotas were lowered
    2. Definitely have more flexibility with pricing

Nobody put on a plan or fired? Well, that one's not true. Two out of three aint bad.
But, to all the negative folks out there..do you believe that they are trying? I do!
    Thanks!

You poor sap, the joke is on you! They had to lower the quotas because of no new products in five years. That is okay with you because you are a base pay + Fusion rep.

Of course its a joke. If the company really thought this way, they would have sent out an e-mail. And anyway, I know its a joke because I wrote it
