How much is the actual retail price of Tracleer? How much for Ventavis per year, actual cost? How many PAH patients are there world wide? My point is that there exists a much higher number of patients being treated with these medications than an orphan status medication drug allows. The reason I ask is that my wife was just diagnosed with Pah and we earn slightly above the poverty line since she has had to stop working due to her disease. How can your sales representatives still warn $150 plus thousand per year? Congrats for caring about the patients. Btw she was put on Ambrisantan which is less toxic and has less doses per day. How is your company still surviving with an inferior medication. The data is equiv. i only write this because i figured Tracleer would be way less epensive than ambrisantan.

Stupid post trying to suggest your wife has PAH ... And then you launch into an anti-Actelion, pro Letairis rant. Your point is useless ... PAH is an orphan disease state AND there are plenty of instances where, by physician choice, these drugs are prescribed outside of hemodynamic indication thus increasing prescription volume. Your 'wife' is better off not taking anything and expediting her exit rather than deal with your stupid Gilead self.

Hope this isn't a true caregiver/husband... Look at what you just said.

If this was a true caregiver/husband, he would not be online ranting about the cost of Tracleer and Ventavis on a pharma message board ... he would be researching physicians, therapies, treatment algorithms, etc for PAH. This is not, nor will never be, a patient support group board - those exist on other sites. Regardless of the cost of Tracleer/Ventavis, if it was a caregiver/husband on this site, then he should be thanking Actelion for the science and education brought to the PAH space. While we can debate back and forth Tracleer vs. Letairis, Ventavis vs. Tyvaso, it should be noted that Actelion has done more for physician diagnosis and awareness of PAH than any other company. 10 years ago most physicians did not even have PAH in their diagnostic differential ... until Actelion gave it some spotlight. Instead of railing on Actelion, how about a thank you from this douche! We all know this isn't a caregiver/husband, so let's stop pretending that it is.

Maybe the husband is in the healthcare sector. You can not be so sure. Bit risky

I am all for giving someone the benefit of the doubt, but don't let the wool get pulled over your eyes here! First off, the retail price for Tracleer and Ventavis is irrelevant. Do you think there are ANY people paying full retail cost for Tracleer or Ventavis?? No. Secondly, if you're hovering around the poverty line, you are likely getting the drug free from medical coverage/CVC/etc Cost is truly irrelevant, especially if you truly can't afford the drug. Seriously. The fact that the person is so knowledgeable as to suggest how Actelion is still around with such an 'inferior' overpriced therapy is laughable ... the individual is just needling Actelion, not looking for a cure for his ill 'wife'.

yes exactly what i thought. your company and the other pah companies have benefited long enough at the expense of patients and their families. Ive seen patients rather die than to bleed their families financially while you guys who have only under grad degrees make as much as some of us physicians. It looks as if the data not all out yet of the successor or Tracleer offers little advantage over Tracleer. Say see ya later Actelion

the retail cost does matter because insurance companies choose other less expensive meds first because there are no definitive outcome studies showing the ERas are more effective. if the. ost of your medications were not so high the patient might benefit from taking an era first maybe maybe not but your price gouging prevents that most of the time anyway you guys are screwed because your next generation has no real advantages not to the extent that a generic era would not b used first too bad you cant go on milking the patients too much longer see ya gravy train over you womt make one hundred grand next job

Sounds like another very scared Gilead or UT colleague. First off, this is a rare disease with a very poor outcome and all of our therapies are expensive. I will not try and justify the price, but I will point out that the prognosis for PH is worse than many diseases with more expensive therapies (lung cancer). Why don't we all wait and see what is released at CHEST regarding outcomes? Anyone who assumes class effect with ERA's at that point should not consider themselves an evidenced base thinker.

But I can certainly understand the fear from UT and Gilead. Oral trep will not receive nearly the same fan fare and definitely will be a failure when all is said and done. It will not be a fun place to work at that point. And Gilead is just counting the days until they can just be the premier company in HIV and nothing else, once again.

too funny you are right pah
medications are expensive and Tracleer and Letairus shoul b priced much lower. No i am not with a pharmaceutical company ass wipe, but a healthcare provider. Yes i think it is funny as hell that u Actelion reps think you are so smart because you know a little bit about one disease state. truth is you know nothing about treating a pah patient and you are grossly overpaid . your drug should b priced like a pde5 . you speak like you are an expert bit when you leave our offices we laugh like hell at you

"evidence based thinker." you sound like a self proclaimed pah thinker backed with your undergraduate degree in finance or maybe biology. Actelion and Gilead reps are the top of the hill as pah unauthorities.

The ignorance being displayed in this thread is laughable from both sides. All PAH therapies are expensive and to get into the debate about how a drug is priced and to break down the economics is pointless because you all have blinders on or are not willing see the other side.

I believe Actelion has done a great job in helping grow the understanding of PAH and treatment of this disease and does much more for the PAH community and it's patients than any other company.

And your scope of expertise is....what? You speak with such authority. Everyone on this board is fully aware of PAH drug costs and PDE5s are not expensive, (yes they are a PAH therapy.) What is the other side we can not see? Please elaborate oh wise one.
