To anyone thinking of applying for the new positions listed online, unless you are desperate and/or enjoy being micromanaged and subjected to degrading treatment by your manager, pass on the opportunity. Many of these positions are open because the previous DM could no longer take that treatment and left at the first opportunity. I am one of those and can say I have never been happier. I think you would be surprised to know how many are actively looking to get out. Be forewarned.

Sorry, forgot to mention that the company referred to above is RC.

Avoid this company like the plague. The company has 3 divisions. Veterinary division is only one growing but starting to decline. OTC business is basically in the 2 or 3 big chains and losing ground by the minute. The other division sells to dog and cat breeders. No need to say anymore about that. Inside source at parent company says major changes coming in leadership and business structure within next 3-6 months. It's no mystery why everyone is trying to jump ship.

Once the parent company found out what was going on they sprung to action. What we saw happen recently with the management changes is just a start. It takes time to get the goods but they are actively working on this. This is from a very reliable internal source also.

What does "get the goods' mean? Sounds as shady as the company these days. Hopefully retail and breeder are not affected as they account for the success of the company.

    Thesaurus Legend:
Verb 1. get the goods - discover some bad or hidden information about; "She got the goods on her co-worker after reading his e-mail"

Thanks for the clarification. And here I thought "get the goods" was code in our HR department for there are cookies in the kitchen or the candy bowls have been refilled. Refreshing to know you are making this the best place to work by "getting the goods" on us. Just another productive day.

That's a safe assumption for the HR team at RC. From my experience, they would get more enthusiastic about candy and cookies than actually helping people. Hopefully "the goods" have been determined by now, because it took them long enough to act on the disasters that have already taken place. They even fired someone in HR last year when that person tried helping people who really needed it.

RC and "the best place to work" don't even belong in the same sentence. Productivity isn't valued. It's all about who smooches the most rumps and who lucked out with a decent territory. Everyone knows that.

In a decent company, getting the goods on someone would be a good thing. If that person was not an asset to the company and doing things which were illegal, immoral etc. then "getting the goods" would be evidence to move that person(s) out. However, it seems like a the "goods" are not gotten on everyone that needs to be moved out in order to make the company one of the "best places to work." They seem to keep the ones they shouldn't and get rid of many that they shouldn't. The company needs to be revamped and I doubt that our HR dept is up for that. Just my opinion.

No matter what the product, a company run by the wrong people, with the wrong people in management, can make for a miserable place to work, not a best place to work. I don't think the product line is the issue here.

Be careful if you're a person of color. The vet pet nutrition business has next to no people of color in their employ. And they wonder why their product doesn't sell in the hispanic, black, or asian markets.

Are you referring to one company in particular?

if you interview and ask the manager why the territory is open, be aware that you will be told lies. If the job happened to be as described by the manager, the territory would not be open. Keep that in mind. Also many territories have been open for a long time and the vet clinics have already switched to another company. Just be aware what you are getting into.

I actually have a work related question. Does anyone know how to officially request vacation time? I've asked my RM and she tells me don't worry about it. Now with all the stuff on this site I don't want these HR c*%ts to get the goods on me.

I don't think HR is after reps, so relax. They have enough managers to weed out. The East needs a major overhaul.
You request time off in eTime. Call one of your team mates to walk you through it.

Don't kid yourself. The West may be more incompetent. You have a guy that has more than one on-the-job drunk accidents and others that their DMs say never leave the house. I guess the hr professionals haven't got the goods on them yet. Total joke.

I think the biggest problems were in the east. As people left, they told HR what had been going on. It does not seem like there is such a high turnover in the west. People that are still with the company are afraid to talk. If someone leaves under the managers in question, maybe HR will look into those problems. How can a company be run like this?

What is wrong with calling a teammate when the manager won't help? I didn't think the person giving that advice was an idiot. How many new people are actually taught how to do the practical things, like reports etc. That has to come from the manager. Some managers are worth nothing. So, genius that you are, what advice would you give? You contributed nothing to the conversation. Must be an RM. Can't wait to get away from this place.
