So, have the heads started to roll at the company that was formerly called Virtus yet?

    Re: Hill-Rom - I love Progressa

Thank you guys for launching Progressa! Love that bed! Definitely has created numerous opportunities for me! Two different bed demos, two different progessa's would work! Yes. Once again, yesterday's technology at tomorrow's prices.

No not yet. Everything there is pretty hush-hush. Heard that John Miller is not going to be at Hill-Rom when Virtus people go over. I would say the people that are employed (at Virtus) should be looking for other employment before they get layed off.

  4. What's the latest news from Hill-Rom?

Do they still make nurse call systems?

How did the new NNC system work out? Did they fix the audio issues? Did the outsourcing of many field jobs in HITS work out?

    Did the Cary office close?

Working for HR gives you a good perspective on how badly a company can be ran and how a great product can be morphed into a pile of overpriced junk in just a few years. Should be a case study for how not to run a business.

Somebody please tell me whats been going on in the HITS division!

Re: What's the latest news from Hill-Rom?

It just amazes me how hospitals continue to buy this thing, 99% of the time it does not work, service is virtually non-existent, but for some unknown reason hospitals still purchase it. Granted many fewer than before but the division is still in business routinely disappointing customers. Amazing....

Been there 4 years and 11 months, did he get the boot. You know that 5 year anniversary is an awfully hard one to make at Hillrom...

That guy is a complete moron. Not even worth me typing more than that.

True but it still gives us no idea what the poster who originally mentioned his name meant about "news".

Don't think he's left just yet. At least that's the impression I got when I phoned the Cary office and asked for him just now...

Normally, if he'd have left they would have simply said he's no longer with the company. The receptionist transferred me to his extension...

Of course, he may be following the same fate as Mike Gallop. Gallop's contract wasn't renewed, and he walked away at the end of the fiscal year (September 30). Maybe Germann is on his way out as of September 30? I'm sure he'll follow Gallop over to Teletracking.

Morale of the story? No body takes this company seriously! It is just a stepping stone to further your career with better companies who offer employee retention, vastly better commissions, and most importantly; respect for their employees. If you are a new graduate who is looking for your first job then you may also want to think twice. I am not sure if you would like to begin your career with this company. You deserve respect for obtaining your degree and I think you would be sadly disappointed. I worked for this company for many years and now I look back and wonder why I tolerated the years that I did? I moved on about a year ago and I am much happier! Never settle for less!

I have no personal experience with this but my neighbor was basically black balled in the industry after he was let go. He never could find another job at any other company and had to start his own business. Of course hat could have been because he is an arrogant jerk who thinks his s%$# doesn't stink but who knows.
All of my other neighbors who got laid off also had to go far afield to find jobs, some as far as SC or WI or even FL. No one around here wanted to hire them so that's another strike against this company. Local companies don't want HillRom rejects.

The company has so much turnover, and ex employees seem to have nothing but horror stories to share. Who wants to take the risk of hiring someone who may be experiencing PTD from working there, or who may bring onboard and spread Hill Rom's unethical / hostile management practices? My first interview question to an ex manager / director level person would be, "how many people were you personally involved in terminating?" It wouldn't be about short term revenue goals.

a search firm called me about a corporate role with HR in Chicago. Not going to mention the position but reading through this thread has me very concerned. Is it still that bad within the organization?

As an aside, I read the financial reports and there was a paragraph that listed employee reductions in force as a positive contributor to increased revenue... that in itself is scary.

Yes, still terrible place to work outside of the executive team. They get their raises their stock while the rest of us get higher quota's and lower pay. I produce 4x more than the territory I inherited yet I'm making less.

In response to your "As an aside" yes the Hill-Rom remains the reigning champs when it comes to addition through subtraction.
I'd pass on this job... Scary place to work

Still as bad and expect it to get worse!

You can't shrink yourself to profitability, but the dopes at HillRom obviously don't know that. Short term gain in exchange for long term viability of the company. Also known as vulture capitalism the slow way, think a bacteria eating the company from the inside out.

If you look at the last 5 stock annual performance reports and look under the special charges, I do believe you will find they have taken a charge on each of the years to eliminate positions? They are not smart enough to just eliminate the position, but in most cases they have hired the same person back or another head and the repeat the process the following year?
