Based on what hospitals in my territory are paying for thunderbeat disposables (under $400) and generators (free) I bet the margins on this business are a lot lower than what was forecasted when it launched. Given the fact that EVERYONE makes a vessel sealer now, not to mention reprocessing, the days of selling on "technology" are a thing of the past. I'd be surprised to see Olympus throw much more weight behind this product.

I've been selling energy for 10 years and it has pretty much sucked. The stress level is so low that I don't feel very important. Also, being involved in my kids' lives and playing golf three days a week really sucks too. The worst part is the money. We can barely survive on $175 a year and don't get me started on the free car my company gives me. Shitty deal. Man, I feel like a loser.

 

I've been a case where a surgeon burned bowel with the monopolar tip of the Ligasure Advance - does that mean the Advance is unsafe? Any energy device can cause damage if not used properly.
