MeritMedical in lawsuit over using MERIT?

There's a Merit that's been around much longer than MeritMedical and they've sued over the MERIT name. Looks like meritmedical has a costly big problem. Management has always seemed sketchy if you look at the history. They might have to change their name??

I think a lawsuit over the name Merit may be the least of their worry at this point. Allegations of misdoings and the investigation by the men in black may be more of a worry

Merit Medical Systems Inc.’ marketing practices are under federal scrutiny, the company revealed in anOct. 21 filingwith the US Securities & Exchange Commission.

According to the filing, Merit received a subpoena on Oct. 19 requesting “documents and other information regarding certain marketing and promotional practices relating to the Company's products.”

The company is in the process of responding to the subpoena and plans to cooperate, the filing says.

The announcement doesn’t mention what specific marketing issues caused the DoJ’s concerns. Originally a disposable medical device company, South Jordan, Utah-based Merit Medical has recently made acquisitions allowing it to diversify further into cardiac intervention, peripheral intervention, spinal and endoscopy products.
