Sirona and Dentsply announces a $5.5 Billion merger plan. What are the thoughts on this?

If I was a Sirona rep I'd be worried. Dentsply has a completely different sales, compensation, organization, process model.

Going to be a big culture change.

Especially when they kick it off saying "a merger of equals"...."business as usual"...."nothing is going to change"

That's exactly when you need to head for the exits.

In your experience what have you seen? Provide some details I am a sirona rep and this thing has me worried. As it is no one is selling anywhere near the cerec system we did in the past and no one is making a lot of money people have left en masse. Maybe it's time to get out. Tell me what kind of an employer Dentsply is.

You should be. Your days are numbered.

Remember the space shuttle Challenger disaster?

    That's your new career trajectory.

Since you claim to be strong, I assume you're making good $ ?

DENTSPLY generally likes younger and cheaper, not 'strong' in reps. Beware of managers who want to 'talk with you', especially in public places...

    Good night & Good Luck.

    Fade to Black.

I agree, not good for you Sirona reps. Although Dentsply has had a lot of turnover recently and a lot of senior leadership has been forced out, they still have some real ass clowns calling the shots. They also have a lot of wanna be ass clowns waiting to lie, cheat, steal their way into those vacant positions of power. Any really good Sirona reps/leaders will identified early on, singled out, and exterminated.

Sirona doesn't have any reps. All their sales, marketing and product management is done through Patterson. Dentsply is Schein's largest vendor partner. Chances are Pattersons exclusive on selling CEREC is probably close to ending. Sirona has not been happy with Pattersons performance for the last year and a half. Sales have not met Sironas goals. Patterson CEREC specialists will soon no longer be needed. Thank you fellas.

DENTSPLY is an incredibly process driven organization. Prepare to have daily, weekly, monthly reviews on sales funnel. Yes, DENTSPLY prefers many reps for coverage compared to a single rep. I cannot think of a DENTSPLY rep making $200,000+. None in any division. That is their model.

DENTSPLY is going to take those large Sirona territories and dice them up. Inundate the country with many more reps. The days of Sirona reps being highly compensated are just about over with this deal.

The days of Sirona reps having any type of autonomy are gone. Get ready to jump in your DENTSPLY Implala each day and report back to York PA on exactly where and who you saw by EOB.

Sirona is going to be open to every and all dealers.....and DENTSPLY will need a lot of new reps to cover all these.

Think about it this way.....if Sirona was really killing it with their imaging and cad/cam systems why did they sell the company to DENTSPLY??

    Answer:

So that DENTSPLY could come in and squeeze out whats left through synergies and process improvements.

Sirona doesn't have any reps, any direct sales force and doesn't even sell a thing to end users. So your prediction of how "all the Sirona reps" are going to have to change the way they do things is pretty funny. Talk about absolutely clueless. But thanks for the prediction.

The above post is spot on.
There will be many more reports that will be totally unnecessary.
The bosses will micro manage you while failing to bring one scintilla of product knowledge to help you close sales.
They don't much care about compliance and ethics either so be forewarned.
Sounds like times are going to be changing for you all.

Don't be surprised if it is the Sirona folks running the show and the Dentsply folks answering to their new bosses.

I would be surprised too but I think the innovative Sirona blood is just what the good ol boys need down at Dentsply

Too early to tell how this merger will play out but in talking with Dentsply folks I know, there is definitely a shortage of solid leadership at Dentsply. So with this void, the Sirona leaders will look like super stars.

I feel for the Sirona folks, many have no clue the negative culture DENTSPLY will bring. Sirona reps might want to dust off the resumes.

By now the Sirona gang can see that the horses they got hitched to at Dentsply are not too clear behind the wheel. Chronic turnover of the best reps (especially in the West), clueless leadership, and a "pager" technology in a smartphone world.
