    Hey Folks,

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but by now you heard of the call we will all will be on tomorrow. I have been told my credible sources that it will be a 50% sales force reduction as there is no need to have 2 DM's now that there are red and blue teams that will be selling the same drugs now. They will merge both teams into one.

This will look different in every state but this will be a major layoff. Severance will be paid out with a minimum of 8 weeks and every year of service after that. If you haven't vested your 401k yet they will give some of that to you based upon how many years you have. 2 weeks for every year of service after the initial 8 weeks. 3rd party
company taking care of all layoffs so it will be done impartially.

The meeting that will be in 10 days from now to rejuvenate the new sales force. Otsuka totally over-expanded for Rexulti and they know it. Both Maintena and Rexulti are doing well overall but not with the # of reps they have promoting it. It's not like it's an $8 billion dollar drug like Abilify tablet.

That's all I have at this point...sorry to all this Christmas Season!

    8 weeks? Really?
    50%?
    Do you mean 50% red
    50% blue, 50% hospital?

If a "massive layoff" they have to do a WARN first, which is 60 days.. then severance..
I know because I did it 2 years ago at another Pharma.. if it's 50% that's 60 day WARN.. 8 weeks.. plus

    What about medical benefits?

They do.not have to WARN act if they are not a publicly traded company.

Not true, private and/or public companies or quasi public companies, all must WARN

How does this 3rd party decide who stays and who gets laid off?

The Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act (WARN) was enacted on August 4, 1988 and became effective on February 4, 1989.

    General Provisions
    WARN
offers protection to workers, their families and communities by requiring employers to provide notice 60 days in advance of covered plant closings and covered mass layoffs. This notice must be provided to either affected workers or their representatives (e.g., a labor union); to the State dislocated worker unit; and to the appropriate unit of local government.
    Employer Coverage
In general, employers are covered by WARN if they have 100 or more employees, not counting employees who have worked less than 6 months in the last 12 months and not counting employees who work an average of less than 20 hours a week. Private, for-profit employers and private, nonprofit employers are covered, as are public and quasi-public entities which operate in a commercial context and are separately organized from the regular government. Regular Federal, State, and local government entities which provide public services are not covered.
    Employee Coverage
Employees entitled to notice under WARN include hourly and salaried workers, as well as managerial and supervisory employees. Business partners are not entitled to notice.

Significant reduction to blue, red, and hospital including management structure, but I call BS on 50% number mentioned above. I say 30% worst case scenario, most likely closer to 20%

the nonsense about "warning" is a joke. neither of you have any idea. consider today and tomorrow your warning! 2 weeks of severance for full year is standard but in these cases often companies try and show some good will! this place sucks anyway. I pray I am let go. end the insanity of this god awful company

Sure hope that's not the severance. Last year gave offered the displaced hospital reps 6 months

I was laid off from a privately held company and got WARN plus 6 months .. regardless of years of service

they must give you two months notice. Whether you work that 2 months or not is not important. They need to pay you for the 2 months.

DM's don't even know how many will be affected....they don't even know if they will keep their job.

Maybe they should start with the dead weight in home office. Or how about those revenue generators in the Assure team Or ready now.

I don't disagree that there is some dead weight in the home office. Frankly, there are too many bodies on too many teams that are unnecessary to get the same work done. All areas across the organization should be looked at in order to ensure we're getting through the next several years.

I'm really sorry in advance for all who are affected by this. Good luck.

We wouldn't be in this predicament if 1) they just stuck to one Red team member at launch of maintaina (they never needed two per territory) and 2) we never bought a $200 million drug for $2.2 billion. Oh and 3) they weren't still promoting free Abilify while we are launching Rex.

I'm curious if they are going to keep territories or revamp/make bigger? Also, it seems they will have 1 red, 1 blue and 1 hospital per territory. Any thoughts?
