Hey Dave, no one listens to reps but we have many ideas on how to cut costs
    1. Less directors with more reps, less managers with more reps=less meddling in our business that you pay us to know. Half these people weren't that great in the field in the first place or as some have, did a month stint in field to check box on climb up the ladder. If they were any good let's face it, it probably was years ago. Things have changed! Wasteful!
    2. Stop all these champ roles and let us do what we were hired to do! You basically make us do what other company's have their managers do. To top it off, the managers can't help but micromanage the champs anyway! Wasteful!
    3. Get the IT issues under control! More time wasted on fixing things then doing what we were hired to do! Wasteful!
    4. Stop shipping things overnight, in huge boxes with 5 vouchers and packing! Wasteful!
    5. Stop all these conference calls to talk about what we should do and let us do something! Wasteful!
    6. Stop meetings joining districts to "cross pollinate". Half the time area issues, insurance issues different! Zero gain! All you end up with is longer more costly meeting and more time out of the field! Wasteful!
    7. Actually train the field on the technology handed down, like concur, instead of handing us our 90th new thing and thinking there is enough time in a day to get in the field and watch any how to video! Wasteful!
    8. A very successful product was launched by having local meetings and using technology at hand instead! You don't need to fly reps all over wasting tons of money! Wasteful!
    9. MHS? Obviously important but we have several in small area why? We have found out more formulary changes before they have in the field. Formularies can be googled! Wasteful!
Reps in field are costly, but like nurses in hospitals, you can have all the doctors you want but the nurses actually care for patients, reps actually move your products! You do need to streamline this company and stop the waste!

    Anyone else have any ideas!

No one tells Neutron Ricks how to run his empire. I'll cut where I want to cut, and add when I want to reward my cronies

Another idea is get rid of your higher salaried people 1 managers salary is equal to 5 manufacturing people.

I hate to break it to you. DR thinks reps are stupid and useless. DR doesn't care how good or bad the sales force is he will just expand it or contract it to achieve his goal. Great suggestions however.

I have 1 suggestion. Create sales compensation that reward top performers and punish bottom performers. Imagine that!

What exactly is a top performer and a bottom performer? Someone with privileged market access? Is that a top performer? Many years ago when I was still part of this circus of a company, I shot to the top of the rankings because two HMOs put our product on formulary. Couldn't see docs before that, and couldn't see them after that. Conversely, I saw reps get crushed by the opposite happening. It all is just a stupid game where the people are all fake. Used to enjoy sitting back at National meetings drinking free beer and watching all of the arrogant and ignorant fools who never had a real job.

Again, how do you measure performance?

Mr. Ricks, you go get 'em.

I prefer to be called Neutron Ricks. It's much more in line with my CEO objectives. By the way, performance is measured by my net worth. Anything that makes it go up is good. Anything that makes it go down must be eliminated. Simple math.
