have the 3500 been identified yet? Of the 2800 early retirement offers, how many will take them? Also with numerous site closures and area consolidations, where do we stand with the 3500? How many more needed and from where will they come?

the deadline to take the VERP is oct 18? the verp does not cover the 2000 cuts needed in the usa. also note that every division has a hard headcount reduction they need to meet regardless of the verp or not. cuts will be based on years of service so those freshly hired millennials should start applying for seasonal positions at amazon or walmart

What are you talking about? It was said from day one they hope most of the 2000 from the US would come from the VERP. And if you think the youngins will be cut, that absurd. More money saved in older senior people and management.

What are you talking about? It was said from day one they were hoping the majority of the 3500 would come from those taking the VERP. Also, the youngins are the safest. Older tenure and management cuts would save the most money.

unless your division has a lot of 50+, verp will not cover the required headcount reduction. depending on your division, there are two scenarios for cuts: 1) make everyone reapply for jobs -allows the company to age discriminate and keep the millennials or 2) respect years of service and fire millennials

Yes but the VERP will likely cover 1000-1500 of the US number of 2000 cuts. VERP is being used to to hopefully cover he majority of the cuts.

No one will need to reapply for their jobs. You will either be cut or not.

Actually, the WDMG program will likely account for all 2,000 positions.

you are almost 100% correct however it is WDO5MAG
“ White Dudes Over 50 Must Absolutely Go “ and this will happen as everything else has happened over the past 4 years and will be completed by April 1st, 2018. Sad but True.

Sad, but it's trolls like you that make impossible for people looking for REAL info. "White Dudes" over 50 aren't the only ones who received a VERP. Ignorant to even think so. You can be bitter all you want, but don't troll on those looking for life chnaging answers.

I agree with you. I come on here every day looking for hope and direction for my life. Without the wisdom found on this site, the world would be lost. These trolls are probably Russian spies who are trying to infiltrate the Lilly Master Plan for its first in class pipeline.

cuts after the VERP will be based on YEARS OF SERVICE, not gender, race, religion, or sexual orientation... those who qualify for VERP but did not take may still be able to keep their jobs.

Some of the people they want to get rid of are not smart enough to take the hint and take the VERP. Hearing of more than a few who will have 87-90+ points turning it down. At least one idiot with 100 points also saying no. I don't think senior mgmt sounds confident they will get 2000 let alone the 2800 they want. Lilly research under Ricks and Dan will be very different so if people are not ready for a new path that involves working hard they need to GTFO. Hearing cuts after VERP in departments ranging from a low of 9% to 25% of chemistry and AA's. My area won't get its 15% with VERP so layoffs coming. Also hearing they want people out fast so they may not have time to re interview to get rid of the crap who don't VERP.

actually hearing diversity will be a factor, not just seniority, with race/ethnicity being very helpful to retention. Two lists apparently were made in each area, one with minority group members and one of everyone else. All based on how each employee self identified. Gender not so much unless it's an area really really underrepresented.

Yes, I wonder how legal it is to layoff only white males. It will be based on seniority and performance reviews or consolidation of groups.

hr will not age discriminate or racially discriminate. most of the non verp cuts will be millennials or new hires

Yes because the clear answer to get new ideas and fix past mistakes is to get rid of the new hires and people just starting their careers. Innovation ends here.

Innovation starts at age 55 and above. Lilly needs to add a new Innovation Lab that doubles as an assisted living facility.

Innovation = the fever dreams of the dementia addled elderly. Suddenly this makes sense. More coloring books for the Fellows everybody!
