To rack up these prescriptions, salespeople identified doctors, nurses and pharmacists who could serve as advocates for the drug, according to interviews with former Avanir employees and internal documents and emails reviewed by CNN. Salespeople then worked closely with these advocates to identify potential patients. In one case, a salesperson worked with a doctor's office manager to pull patients' charts, identify those who should be screened for PBA and make sure that Nuedexta brochures were inserted in their files. The sales force also coached doctors and facility employees on how to fight for Medicare coverage of the drug if it was initially refused.

In an email from several years ago, one of the company's regional managers, Kevin Tiffany, bluntly urged his salespeople to spend "99.9 percent" of their time focused on such patients.

Devoting time to other conditions more commonly associated with PBA amounted to "diluting your chances," wrote Tiffany, a senior sales manager in California.
"Give yourself the best chance to win," Tiffany added.
Tiffany, who no longer works for Avanir, declined to comment through an attorney.

Have you ever been in an nursing home facility? Everyone in there is crying and moaning. It’s terrible. Btw CNN - why is it a bad thing when an HCP comes to an education dinner on their own time to learn about a product???

Yeah, we all know this drug is a POS with a made up disease, but who cares! Listen, our job is to sell this shitty company's products, and nothing else ! Otsuka is run by total idiots from the top down, but as long as the checks come in, I will sell whatever POS drug I have to!

 

Otuska is a POS. The company hires pharma rejects, promotes people based on sexual bias and skin color, creates a culture of fear and continues to ignore fda regulations where it thinks it can. Otsuka is on its last leg, not sure why HR isn't fixing things but I suppose they are part of the problem.

 

Culture - They talk all this culture nonsense and can't even tell the truth; most recent example look at the email from our leader - first it was no worries everyone will be placed in the field, then it was 97% were placed - umm sorry what about the remaining 3% - I have spoken with people who lost their jobs!

Stop saying you are trying to optimize geographies. You let people go, give them severance and then bring them back - what a joke! Is it like the third or fourth time you are optimizing in the past 3 years???! These freaking geographies should be perfect all the optimizing that has gone on....The reps who got their severance and are coming back certainly made out! Leadership try to take the honest route it is much more respectable then continually trying to sugar coat obvious lies.

And lastly - You suppose HR is part of the problem...Seriously - you are joking right? This is where it all starts - the politics, the antics that go on, they need to fix themselves before we see any positive change in this organization. They cannot find their way out of a paper bag. Good luck trying to get one of them to do their job or even call you back and when you finally run into them they are full of excuses, no answers, no solutions. Keep promoting fools and this company will continue to slip into the sewer.
