I am posting this thread to seek advice from anyone with experience in orthopedic sales who is willing to offer advice to a newcomer. I am considering a position with a popular orthopedic implant company and would like to gain some insight into the life of an orthopedic sales rep. A little background about myself; I have worked in orthopedic surgery as an O.R. staff member for the past 8 years and after earning my B.S. degree, I've been offered several sales opportunities. I have close personal connections with numerous orthopods, regional managers for different orthopedic implant companies, hospital staff, and management at a few different facilities. I know very well the sacrifices and long hours that successful reps have to endure, and I am not looking for warnings about the "lifestyle" or any other negative sentiments about the profession. I am simply asking for any advice from experienced reps on how to be successful in the field. Any constructive feedback is greatly appreciated.
