ALLERGAN WILL NOT EVEN INTERVIEW OLDER REPS. Their application asks “date of college graduation”.

IF IT IS ILLEGAL TO ASK SOMEONES AGE IN AN INTERVIEW THEN WHY IS IT LEGAL FOR COMPANIES TO ASK YOUR COLLEGE GRADUATION DATE??? IM SURE HR IS CAPABLE OF DOING THE MATH.

First, you are not helping your case much writing in all CAPS.

Second, our lawyers have lawyers, if the application was out of compliance with federal and state employment laws I would be shocked.

Last, maybe just maybe apply for a job first before you indict a company with a charge of agism.

I wrote in all caps so people like you would have an easier time reading and understanding what I wrote. I was wrong. For one thing, I did not state that it was illegal to ask for a graduation date. It’s just the wrong thing to do because you are basically asking someone’s age. How would I know the application asks for a college graduation date if I didn’t apply for a job? Isn’t it implied that I applied for a job if I knew this information? Your ignorance is stunning.

It's much easier to not hire someone because of age than to fire someone because of age so the application is pretty smart. Almost no one sues a company that doesn't hire them, but people regularly sue companies that fire them.

In the world or sales, (any industry) people get burned out, people don't evolve with time, and people don't connect with younger crowds as they age. This might not ALWAYS be the truth, but one of those categories is the truth 80% or more of the time.

So yes, if your college diploma is presented on stone tablets, you probably won't get the job.

If you are, in fact, "older", why would you want to join this company? Do you watch stocks at all? Take a gander.

The person wrote it in in all caps so the older women who allergan won’t hire who have difficulty reading can read it. Did you think about that? Of course not. Because you’re selfish. And you can read on your own

    Hey Sales Team,

Amicus Therapeutics is hiring a lot of sales reps. They are amping up for a launch and need a team ASAP! I’m a contractor there now and I like the company and culture so far. Check them out!

Got hired here at 45, is that “old” enough?” Granted, that was Legacy AGN, not the Forrest sh*tshow it is now.

If you have a good track record and put time & focus into interviewing, you will get hired. I just did at 50.

    Good luck.

Agreed. Forest is the Ebola of company cultures and it is the reason this company is bleeding out now from every orifice. Wouldn't be surprised if they threw ageism into the hiring formula but be glad if they are. There are much better places to work.

At the POA meeting we were talking at our table about how few people were over 40. Five years ago over half were and several were over 50. Not any more.
