Has anyone heard any rumors about a RIF this year in Spine? Based on the last few years, some sort of layoffs are likely in the next six weeks. Then again, maybe we will buck the trend for once. Sure would be helpful for morale if we can avoid it.

If several hundred million $ set aside for severance according to previous news release, rif will most likely happen and continue for years to come. $ saving to boost profits comes first. Who gives a sh*t about employee morale. its unfortunately reality and everyone knows it. End of fy is most dreadful as we all wonder if we are on the current hit list. Good luck!

Roy and the RVP's just don't get it and don't care. The biggest issue is that Spine is not growing (flat). I guess the RVP's are running out of O-Arms to give away to keep business. Look for RIF's and comp plan cuts to be announced by the first week of June.

Any time now. Just wonder long the list is this year as the multibillion saving initiative kicks in.

The billions of expense cutting resembles a series of 8.5 earthquake bllowing up the sea floor and sending RIF tsunamis toward the shores of all BUs. Tsunamis don’t reach all shores at the same time, but unfortunately they will come eventually for those who survived previous ones. The earthquakes intended to wipe out the homes conceivably expensive to maintain in order to replace them with cheap shacks and huts. It’s too late to get out now. I’ll just wait around for the tsunami to pull me out into the ocean with a big check in my hand and hoping to land on the shore of another world outside of the Ring of Fire.

Interesting analogy except it is not RIF, but REP (replacing expensive personnel). Probably will happen every now and then for the next couple years

My guess is that all comp plans drop the week of May 28th and the RIF starts around June 11. This would follow the model of past years.

Roy Gavin only cares about how to move the stock price up!! Why change the yearly RIF's and comp cuts? Do more with less so the upper management can be rewarded. Total Rewards for the lower employees is a total joke!!!

How abiut the new less attractive 401k options. Pretty brochure, but High fees and limited options to invest in. Just like moving patient registration and the toll free number to the Philippines. Saves money at the expense of patients and employees. This is not the Medtronic I signed on to work for.

Very sad to hear these things on top of expected rif. Sounds like one gets screwed whether getting rif or not.

Partly true, it ran May 8th thru June 9th depending on what division or your job title.

Used to hear “congrats”, now “sorry” when people were told where I work. Hope for the best but prepare for the worst starting again next week.
