Hey looking for some 411 on the above name. Michael just left UCB and is now working at GW biotech. I have an interview with him next week. I am wondering what he is like as a manger?

    Thanks

ML only knows how to manage entry level reps -- he micromanages each rep each day.
You must call him after each of your lunches and describe your lunch with doctor.
He may hire a person with high level experience, but you will call him after each major call.
He does not trust his people. I would steer clear of him.

He is NOT worth the trouble. For example - He will contact you from 5:00 am to 8:30 pm five days a week and also on weekends.

he is a militant micro manager which is fine for lazy reps, but for self starters who want to take responsibility for their territory you will immediately tire of the condescending chip on his shoulder. aside from that, he is just not a nice person. GW did UCB a favor by taking this hr nightmare off their hands.

I worked for him for three years. Stand up guy not sure where the negativity is coming from. You must be disappointed he made a positive move out of UCB. Sounds like you were the one he fired last year.

One of 11 good VS bad. The odds are he is not a good person to work with/for. I have an interview on Tuesday,I will listen but my heart is not in it any more.

He is the Midwest manager. I interviewed with him earlier this week. I was moved forward, but in no way will work for him. I am not saying he is a bad guy, since this is my first interaction with him. What I did learn is he knows VERY LITTLE about the disease state, however he acted as he was smooth as butter. I really do not think I can work with a boss like this. I think this type of manager will (if we are lucky) ask for our input on issues, but not listen. I do not need to be patronized. Hey just how I saw things, you could be have a different experience then mine

I asked him how long it takes him to establish a trusting relationship with a person he supervises and he told me that it would take at least 2 to 3 years. And, the tone of he voice said that he will never trust any rep.
    Red flag.

I put my name in for this job. I have successfully launched twice in this space and know every epilepsy specialist ( adult and pediatric ) in the entire area. When I heard who was the mgr was I withdrew right away. Be very careful with this guy. It was a great opportunity .. until......

If you have a job, I would advise against quitting to work under this person. He often hires and then continues to recruit under the table. Then he replaces the rep who he just hired. It does not matter if they are in good standing. He has 'changed his mind' on 4 out of every 10 reps that he hires. Beware!!

take this over to the GW board. He is their problem now. We are glad to be rid of him.
