Keep in touch with your hiring manager. Most likely there were a couple training drop-outs, or people who will leave their first 6 months in the field...

GSK vaccines & OTC are doing great. It's the resp. div. that's sucking air...get it sucking air.
Docs would LOVE to see less gsk reps that are whining...like little babies..like the one in Roanoke, va.

anyone make the jump to inside vaccine sales? I’m local to Philly and I’m sick of the windshield time all day. I’d be tempted to switch to an inside gig, but I wonder if the pay/bonus structure would be similar to the field? It seems like the postings pop up pretty regularly, is that because people wash out from the stress of the job?

seems to me that the path only works one way. People do inside sales to get experience to them go outside. You’re giving up a car, freedom, and probably bonus potential to sit there with a headset all day?? Be careful what you wish for!

So, less pay, less bonus, less freedom, no company car......

    What was your question again?

i did an inside pharma gig for awhile as a way to return to pharma after a few years off for maternity. I would be very hesitant to view it as anything else but a transitionary role. It does give you some flexibility if you can get a set up to work from home. I think GSK sticks you in a Navy Yard office cube?? No thanks! It’s mind numbing work and gives as much value as a sample drop...if that. You’ll get 2/3 the bullshit but you’ll also get 2/3 the pay as a field gig. The only logic I see is if you develop some sort of physical limitation where you can’t be in a car all day. There’s no other upside to making it your career choice!

Maybe a less stressful career is suited for your type.

I went through the interview process and can share my experiences. The hiring manager called me at night on a weekend. He asked me to interview first thing on a Monday morning.
When I arrived to a business suite for the interview, he had set up a video camera. I was video taped without my permission. Another person (a female rep) joined in the interview by skype. She introduced herself only by her first name and no title. She was also asking interview questions. The questions went on and on.
I closed for the next step. Hiring manager said he had no idea of the next step.
I followed up. The position had already been granted to an internal candidate BEFORE I was forced into a video interview.
Why did they put me through that? I believe that the rep on skype was practicing for possible promotion to management and used me as a practice interview.
    Disgustingly unprofessional!!

Consider yourself lucky not to get the job.

Yah, I mean who would want to be part of a legendary shingles vaccine launch?

And you won’t get paid in your sales numbers and will be ranked according to whose ass you kiss.

    Consider yourself lucky.

Doesn't surprise me though. Remember, GSK does not pay on sales numbers. They pay on sucking up to your manager and role plays.

    They love their role plays.

All the good sales reps have left a LONG time ago. Any sales rep that is worth a damn would only come here if they were unemployed and needing a filler job until they found a real job.

    This place sucks.

Yep, I retired and back then they even loved role plays. It kills time and is easy to plan.
