Man it's been a couple years since I've been on here since leaving Arthrex.. seems to be more negative than before. The cut and dry truth is, your Arthrex experience will depend solely on which distributor you work for. I had experienced the good and the bad and can say the discrepancy between the two was uncanny.

Regardless, make the most of the opportunity to develop yourself into a marketable rep. I can honestly say, the best and the very worst reps in the industry both represent the blue. If you can master 7 lines of business and limit the cool-aid consumption, you should be a hot commodity once it's time to make the move (assuming you aren't a total douche or Stryker window licker). Just make sure you don't stay too long and pigeon-hole yourself. The products and innovation are great but the corporate arrogance is nauseating. I personally, couldn't attend another meeting where it was an Arthrex ass-kiss extravaganza.. listening to everyone talk about how "lucky" we were to work for Arthrex. It takes a certain type of person to navigate a $5 mil plus territory at Arthrex. That's why you've never seen a competitive rep join Arthrex and last more than a few months. And you can and should be making $250-500k if you are running that territory. Unfortunately, it seems as though they are still pushing the top guys out and making micro territories. If that keeps up, there will be a massive Arthrex backlash with a bunch of noobs trying to run Rtsa, I-balance, SCR, etc.. Because, quite frankly, working 70 hours a week in orthopedic slavery is not worth any less than $350k.. unless you are newer and working your way up.

And if you are one of these soft ass kids just graduating college, thinking you should be making 100k to start.. just give up. You won't make it. Get comfy being the "creative editor" of mom's basement.

So what can an Arthrex consultant expect to make? Does it take long to get to good money? With 7 lines of business what's an avg rep making 250?

What is the culture and life like for this company?

You will never make 250. Arthrex's model is like the Pfizer model of last decade. Sales teams where very few make 6 figures. There may be a team leader that makes 125-150. But that person is not someone to be envied. He/she is stuck and should have probably left years ago when their stock was high. Now they are babysitting a book of business with a bunch of weak millennial goobers.

The fact is that the next 10 years will not be kind to this company. They are many years behind in arthroplasty. Capital equipment and video has undergone price erosion, Arthrex can be blamed for some of this. The extremity marked will never be controlled like the sports medicine segment. Biological is the Wild West where month to month you can kill or be killed. Now to sports medicine, great products that are vulnerable as hell. As soon as a company or companies decide to come after this segment it will crush Arthrex. All that is needed is multiple sizes of a comparable swivelock option and some good marketing. I will also throw in aggressive pricing would help curb stomp this company as well.

To digress, take a job with them but constantly be looking to move to a better position with another company.

There are giants knocking at the door. Once they get their portfolios sorted out it will be fun to watch Reinhold squirm.
