Um, YES, I am referring to myself as a clinician... I am a Registered Dietician, Board Certified and licensed by the state of New York. I am a clinician.

    Ok.
    Free Advice......
Do yourself a favor, don’t say that when you interview for a new job in November.
Until then, go get some coffee for the medical staff and tell them you need to see the doctor (a clinician) for a quick minute.

Talk about a reality check, Geez.
    Get a clue.

if you are offered a position & you decline, you ARE still eligible for severance. It’s addressed in a FAQ floating around out there & I know because it happened to me in the last round.

    Dear NNI,

I am finding it really hard to work until October 18 as I wait to hear my fate......

What is everyone doing? Are you actually doing Veeva entries?

Not even close! You are a moron, but not a clinician.

    Definition of clinician

1: a person qualified in the clinical practice of medicine, psychiatry, or psychology as distinguished from one specializing in laboratory or research techniques or in theory

    2: a person who conducts a clinic

Can’t believe some of these posts! what’s the point of attacking each other - it’s horrible for all of us to be going through these displacements - do you really feel better when you try to make someone else worse - who is the real loser?

Ever consider that there are different levels of a 'clinician?' I would consider a clinician as someone who directly interacts with a patient and is qualified and paid to treat them...doesn't mean you have to be a prescriber as a previous poster seemed to assume. The person who responded is simply stating a fact, not claiming they are saving the world

I'm working. I'm still getting paid so I feel it's my obligation to go out and see patients that were scheduled already and offices. It's not their fault. I've heard that some DEs are not even going out on the field. I'm still doing business as "usual" which includes veeva calls for calls that actually happened.

How nice of you for working, after being paid 2-3x your deserved salary to do minimal for the better part of 8 years.

Yes. Sure. Call yourself a clinician.

But do you actually say I want XYZ drug for this patient? Sure, you all do, but your CILINICAL supervisor or prescriber has to prescribe it. So it’s semantics and it’s also the truth. You cannot prescribe.

We don’t spend much time calling on dietitians because they have no real influence on the prescriber. That’s all. Call yourself anything you want.

The arrogance displayed by some of our DE’s is astounding. You truly have no influence in the clinical practice and are merely cogs in the wheel. It is laughable that you call yourselves “clinicians”. I guess I’ll call myself a pilot because I serve passengers drinks on airplanes.

I am a RD/CDE and consider myself a “clinical staff”. We provide health care to patients. No, we can not prescribe but for all the places I worked, I actually wrote the Rx and the provider would simply sign it. We spent the last 8-10 lyears empowering RDs/CDEs to speak up and advocate for the patients, how to make the recommendations and validate reasoning for therapy changes. RDs/CDEs that have this autonomy are highly respected. Some DM Centers have contractual agreements for the RD/CDE to make changes on their own. How often while working w Novo do HCPS ask for our recommendations? RDs/CDEs are highly influential to make therapy changes using Novo Products if they step up in confidence. Working in this role has given us more confidence to stand up to challenging providers making us more marketable in the clinical setting. This experience has also made us more marketable to do sales, management, etc. we have gained so much knowledge and have seen what works/doesn’t work in health care. Who cares what people say on CP, trust in yourself. Step outside what you think you are capable of as you are capable of even More than you think. You will land on your feet and do great things and make a difference. If you are clinical, you will recommend therapy that is best for the patient. No matter what company manufactures the drugs. Did you get paid 2-3 x more than you would have made doing clinical work? Yes, BUT that doesn’t mean you can’t make close to that somewhere else. Don’t ever sell yourself short. Your experience will be welcomed and it sets you apart. If you work in a DM program, you know how to sell it. Best of luck to all in the DEP. You will succeed no matter what happens.

Bravo to the previous writer. It’s stressful to be potentially losing your job but we all will find our way. Some of these posts are so hateful that I am glad not to have the person writing them in my life. . That writer must be a sad person to work with - cynical judgemental demeaning and overall just small minded. I actually almost feel sorry for them Bevause no matter where you work or how much money you make your heart and soul and spirit are damaged . I Sincerely wish hope and healing for all those affected by the setbacks we face . Haters are everywhere - we just keep moving past them

Yes...let’s shake off these hateful comments from SOME of our jaded sales people. They’re unhappy right now and need something to complain about - apparently they’re SO affected by our self-confidence that they’ve found their outlet. I feel lucky to not work with such individuals. So sad.
